I agree with 90% of what she says , all apart from the "do it in the Gym" as thats not now and never will be cycling , thats just fitness.

It will be for the police to decide whether the driver should have seen the fastest man on two wheels
No; it will be up to the Police to decide whether to report the matter to the Prosecuting authority, who will decide whether to put it to a court, and THE COURT will decide on the matter of guilt. As with all other criminal matters.

There are plenty out there who don’t even bother to wear helmets
Yaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwnnnn!

Drivers have to pass a test, so why don’t cyclists?
So ...... pedestrians too?

Drivers have to wear seatbelts, so why don’t cyclists have to wear helmets and reflective clothing?
Losing even more credibility now, my 5 year old niece would make a better journalist and put forward more credible arguments.

If vehicles must have MoTs to prove their roadworthiness, why don’t bikes?
See previous point. Surely the Express hasn't stooped so low as to employ a journalist who writes such utter drivel? I used to buy that paper, but have just been reminded why I stopped.

It seems quite a sad tale to me. A young woman is still cross with her mother for having an affair with a cyclist.

Why she or her editor feel the need to share this and her irrationally negative response to all cyclists I can only guess.

In truth, some cyclists do not share the road thoughtfully, but they are few.

Similarly, there are also cyclists with as irrational an anti-car bent as some drivers' anti-bike attitude.

It's lovely that most of us are happy to live and let live.

I wonder if the journalist ever told her mother how cross she was about the affair with the cyclist.

Yep. So if she had come home and found a CAR outside her house while the driver was *visiting* her mother, would she feel this way about all car drivers?
