Electric carving knives
Without the 'mass market' for these, those of us who use them to shape reinforcement foam in composite structures would have to pay a fortune for some 'specialist tool' at 1000 percent mark up.

Electric carving knives work much better on freshly-baked bread than manual knives.

With you on the can openers though.

My granny had arthritis in her hands and found it difficult to use a normal tin opener. The electric one was a godsend to her, and I'm sure plenty of others in similar situations.
