He had a point, I feel the same about people who sing along at shows, I paid to listen to the band, not them. If you want to sing along go buy the record and do it at home or in the car!

What if I'm a really good singer?I dance a bit more than that, and if you're standing behind me or my mrs singing there will be an unfortunate accident. "Sorry, mate! I slipped!"
I'm not a haughty culturalist, but I'm pretty sureHe's not an Aussie....

No one goes to a Morrissey concert to hear really good singing!
the fact that neither Marr's nor Morrissey's solo careers came even close to touching on the magic of the original
I dispute the assertion! Marr in particular has done some fantastic work outside The Smiths - not least with The The, much of which is on a par with The Smiths, if not better. Some of Morrissey's early solo stuff was pretty good too - his first three solo albums have some great songs on them. It's pretty much all downhill from Vauxhall & I onwards though, as he becomes increasingly bitter and jaded.

I actually quite like "Spent The Day In Bed", played it a fair few times nice and loud!.
By his actions and speech, he convinced me very early in his career that he was deffo in the ‘nobber’ category. But, bear in mind that the article was translated from English into German and back again. Also bear in mind that our beloved press are also nobbers and will do anything for a story.
That looks a lot like victim blaming to me.It’s (yet another) example of the entire world becoming ‘forum’. Everybody getting professionally offended on everyone else’s behalf. It’s easy to deal with on an Internet forum, you just ignore the poor little darling(s). It’s more difficult to do so in the real world. The whole ‘Kevin and Harvey show’ thing that’s been rumbling on for a while, is a good example. If the complainants has been that bothered about the blokes’ conduct, why not kick off about it way back when the alleged incidents occurred? Oh, I know, because they were complicit, and were not making a big deal out of it, because they were using the situation to get something / somewhere, and now that they have got it / there, or not, and suddenly it’s a big deal. I’m not condoning the behaviour, but really? As soon as the professionally offended sheep, bugger off and find something else to get their frillies in a bunch about, I wouldn’t rate the chances of some of the offendee’s chances of finding gainful employment in the mainstream entertainment industry too highly.
Were you there, the Madness reunion?
