Most popular type of bike?

A friend asked me which was the most popular type of bike; a Road Bike or a Mountain Bike?

To his surprise I replied that neither of those was the most popular.

Because as we all know, the most popular sort of bike by far is a Garage Bike.

Roadsters and cruisers are the most popular. There may be more of other types, but owners REALLY love these

Or maybe city bikes/hybrids.
