Whisked past on a moving walkway just in case loitering took place.
And the queue to see them was at least a quarter of a mile long later in the day. (Fortunately we got in before the coach parties turned up!)

Land's End. Went there years ago and after driving down a narrow lane for a few miles realised that it's basically a theme park owned by Peter De Savary (sp?). We didn't pay the admission and went back to Mousehole instead.

The Treasury at Petra, you approach on horseback down the Siq, a narrow gloomy ravine deep in the rock. Then you round a corner and you gasp as you get your first sight of the Treasury, carved out of solid sandstone. Unforgettable.

Most underwhelming for me was a place locally that purported to be a transport museum and miniature railway. The transport museum was a couple of rusty cars and several farm sheds stuffed with old roadsigns (no presentation, just stacked in there). The miniature railway wasn't bad but was an end-to-end thing and we were expected to get off at the other end to look at more sheds.

Not surprisingly it isn't there any more.

Mention of the Angel of the North makes me think of this which is also local:

It's called Quantum Leap (nicknamed The Slinky) and is supposed to be to commemorate Charles Darwin. Design and construction was a cockup (it didn't meet in the middle when they first put it up) and the final bill came to more than the Angel of the North. Somehow, I can't see anyone making a special trip to see it.

Last time I visited @Marmion Land I found it using a map and going to where it said 'here be dragons'....no fecking dragons though just a load of backward and primitive natives

The municipal zoo in a town called Enugu in eastern Nigeria. The entire site was a neglected, overgrown jungle with glimpses of empty rusting cages through the bush. We found one lonely crocodile languishing in a pool of filthy green suppurating stagnant water, a pitiful sight.

We were approached by a mama who asked if we would like to see the python. Cash changed hands and we were led down a forest trail to a small thatched hut. Inside we found another mama who had a plastic laundry basket with a lid. More cash and the anticipation was really beginning to build... we were beckoned closer and the lid was lifted... to reveal.... a tiny baby python the size of a pencil!

I was over in Lancaster with my sisters last Saturday. We thought it looked really nice, though the traffic on its little ring road was a pain! We came back via Morecambe and were not impressed with that, though the view across the bay to the distant Lake District mountains was splendid.
