another moron on a wind up mission and an irresponsible editor rubbing their hands together knowing what a touchy bunch cyclists (esp social media ones) are to this s**te.

the local cyclists & clubs & CTC Plymouth chapter should bombard the advertisers with letters, emails etc boycotting their services until the paper grows up, apologises and puts it right.

The editor should be fired or sued, for printing an enticement to break the law.

We had a similar one locally a few years back wantingthe instant confiscation and destruction of cycles for RLJ,s pavement cycling etc..... it was good fun!

He thought we were supporting him, and was enthusiastic about backdating the offences as well!

Then pointed out that in a recent clampdown over 3,000 vehicles had been done for speeding, parking, faults, and other offences and whether he felt that crushing these vehicles for the offences.

He backed down, and failed to explain why they shouldn't

Within a few hours he was totally discredited

Do you have a national media watchdog / oversight organisation? Perhaps lodge some complaints with it?

Sadly, such attitudes are too frequent. Last week a woman in a Land Rover gave me a torrent of abuse because she had to put two wheels on the verge; she thought I should get off and let her past. It was a single track 'quiet' lane!

He does have a point though. Pavement cycling is a problem that affects law abiding/Highway Code abiding cyclists because we get the flack from many of the irate motorists and pedestrians who tarnish us all the same. In the last few days i've been an irate motorist as i've had to stop(or collide with) to let some chav dive off the pavement and then ride his bike (along with 2 dogs running behind) into my path, and as a pedestrian i've had to keep still while some other chav flew down the pavement outside my house while he was gobbing away on his phone!

Maybe we as cyclists should stop whining and start to educate the public about the difference between law-abiding sports cyclists and muppets who happen to be riding a bike.
