Hi guys. I'm now starting to learn about self bicycle repairs. I have a quick question:

I currently have MTB Crank that's 22/32/42.
Can I replace the crank with 24/34/42.

I have a old beat-up Callas MTB so I'm refurbishing it with cheap parts since bicycle is old.
Thanks.

The two chainsets may require the same bottom bracket spindle length in which case, fine.
Otherwise the chain line with the replacement chainset may be further out (larger) or nearer (to the bike axis plane).
If the former the FD may not reach out to the large ring. If the latter you may find you haven't got sufficient clearance between chain ring and chainstay.

It'll need a little bit of tweaking as the FD will be closer the small and middle chainring

Other than that, you should be fine.
