I used XT SPD's from word go !

I also have a bit of a walk once reaching work - carrying a bike upstairs with road shoes is a no-no

I have SL's on my road bike, but went for spd's on single speed and fixed (partly so I could use my mtb boots for winter commutes) and have had no problems clipping in, don't even notice them. Funnily enough, now have more problems clipping in the the SL's when out on the road bike.

I'm using toeclips and straps on my fixed.

I've got the clipping in down to near perfection now. I might stay with SL's
