Bought these about 2 years ago but I have lost the fitting instruction. Try to fit to a Carlton. Been trying for one hour but getting nowhere. Some pictures would help.

Your Carlton has the holes to bolt the stays to for the rear mudguard, but it looks like you are missing the clip to attach the mudguard to the bridge, it may have a hole drilled through it to directly bolt the mudguard to it.
The front fork has no bolt holes, so you will need P clips to attach the stays to.

It looks like the front fork does have a pair of mudguard eyes behind and below the dropouts (the machine screws go through the bent loop at the bottom of the mudguard stays into the frame/fork eyes and fix them in place). The black clips on the rear mudguard are at the wrong end of the 'guard - they should slide round into place towards the back of the mudguard. The sticky-up slotted tabs are held in place by the brake caliper mounting bolt -so yes, you have to undo your brakes to fit them. :okay:

Shortened the stays on the font ones. Quite easy after that. Still puzzled by the rear one.

Fixed front ones ok. Shortened the stays

All the above (front guard needs to be fitted a lot closer to the tyre - benchmark: can't see through (from the side)).
For the rear, remove the reflector. When fitting to the chainstay bridge, use a nice big washer to spread the load and some thread locker on the bolt. Or if the hole is not tapped, use a nylok nut.
Check you have clearance between tyre and the bolt head, and if tight, use a flat headed or low profile button headed one.

You owe it to yourself and your face to get 'security clips' for the front stays.

SKS safety clips have saved me from 2 nasty mudguard bind-ups. Not an optional accessory. Old 'guards used to shatter but chromoplastic ones just bend and fold.

Hi Porsche924. Your Carlton looks very similar to my Claud Butler Majestic and I am in need of a pair of mudguards like the ones you have just bought.
1. Are your wheels 27 x 1 1/4 ?
2. If they are that size could you tell me what make the mudguards are and where they came from please.
