Sturmey-Archer gears? If you need to replace the gear cable, get one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321462905170?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:blush:T
Thanks - it's single speed freewheel - hoping I can get it unscrewed !

He's known as Arthur raleighnut Negus in some circles.

I imagine you will want to remove the chainset to grease the BB and a 54 yr old cotterpin might be a bit stubborn. Here's a good way to get them out without special tools:

Good luck.

Thank you - I have many vices, some bigger than others ... and cramps too, so will bear these in mind when setting out on the cotter pins :okay:

If you do buy those old Clarks cables don't forget to pull the inner out and put some grease on it. It'll be as dry as a nun's nasty inside and just as rusty. Or indeed any cable.

Err, the inner won't pull out, hence the problems.

Good luck.

This tip was very useful thanks, I used an old BB cup and put the cotter pins in my vice to pop them out.
