Do you reckon it could be done on a tourer or trails bike as opposed to an off road bike.
I do most of my off road on trails and use a tourer.(or hybred as threy are called now)
Pretty much of it can be ridden on a tourer or the like. I have
done some of it on my Surly Long Haul Trucker however I didn't find the single track that much fun with drop bars. Also in the northern section there are some "touring" options to bypass the worse of the single-track/pea-gravel.
That is really hard to say ... I guess you might climb a total of 2,000 metres in a day on a bad day. There are no mountains here, but you are often climbing short sharp ascents out of creeks and the like on dirt roads or tracks. Can be surprisingly trying.
how far can you cover in a day, I was aiming at 100k but do you think thats over abitious
That would really depend on your capabilities. The campsites are spaced around 45 to 50 kilometres apart which is a pretty reasonable distance for most loaded riders. That said I have read in the campsite registers of a couple of girls doing around 100 km a day so it can be done.
Personally on the road I am happy to do
75 to 100 km a day but off-road on the Munda Biddi Trail I find 45 to 50 kilometres is a good days ride.
December must have been hot.
Not to bad as I was in Collie so the temperatures where in the mid 20 C.
