Never heard of it but sounds interesting, I will watch this thread to see if anyone comes back with personal knowledge or experience of the ride.

Hi - actually I got it wrong -
Its the Munda Biddi Trail
the bibbulum trail is a walkers trail only , but the two run sort of parallel and criss cross each other , I kept seeing signs for the Munda trail but thought it was a local one to Denmark(wa)
still a 1000km from Mundara to Albany

this is me having just completed the bibbulmun track - I wish!

but the mundi trail cuts across it.
say from the maps it looks flatish , lumpy around denmark.
track looks good , more trails biking than off road

That's the biggest problem when cycling, walking, or even sometimes travelling by car in Australia. There are vast areas where there is very little or no water and you have to take enough plus some extra for emergencies to get you to the next water source. Even then, you can find it dried up or too deep underground to get to.

I completed a section end to end in the first weekend of December. it has taken me four "rides" to get it all ticked off. Should have been three but things happened. I first rode the Trail in 2008 when it was only open through to Collie. I went back in July 2011 to ride the Nannup to Collie section and then back in July 2013 to finish off the now open and complete Trail. Those last two rides didn't quite go to plan and I had to go back in November/December to finish off the last two days. Glad it is all done now. In all honestly it has some good sections, but way to much road/bitumen riding. The "lower half" was funded by what is known as the Royalty for Regions funding program and as we had an election in March 2013 the money had to spent and it had to be "finished" before the election. This meant less than ideal alignment and campsites that are not completed. Hopefully over time it will be realigned and the campsites finished.

Here a few photos to give you are taste of the Trail:

Do you reckon it could be done on a tourer or trails bike as opposed to an off road bike.
I do most of my off road on trails and use a tourer.(or hybred as threy are called now)

How hilly is it?
how far can you cover in a day, I was aiming at 100k but do you think thats over abitious

December must have been hot.

all I can say is you lucky bugger. (its definately on my to do list) and thanks for sharing the experience.

Pretty much of it can be ridden on a tourer or the like. I have done some of it on my Surly Long Haul Trucker however I didn't find the single track that much fun with drop bars. Also in the northern section there are some "touring" options to bypass the worse of the single-track/pea-gravel.

That is really hard to say ... I guess you might climb a total of 2,000 metres in a day on a bad day. There are no mountains here, but you are often climbing short sharp ascents out of creeks and the like on dirt roads or tracks. Can be surprisingly trying.

That would really depend on your capabilities. The campsites are spaced around 45 to 50 kilometres apart which is a pretty reasonable distance for most loaded riders. That said I have read in the campsite registers of a couple of girls doing around 100 km a day so it can be done.

Personally on the road I am happy to do 75 to 100 km a day but off-road on the Munda Biddi Trail I find 45 to 50 kilometres is a good days ride.

December must have been hot.

Not to bad as I was in Collie so the temperatures where in the mid 20 C.
