The get together in August Or September sounds interesting but Ashford is a long way off. I had to go to Camber Castle once many years ago to do a drawing
My wife and I will also be having a welding anniversary near that date and it looks like we will be heading West.
I hope it comes together and that you all have a good time..

Is that the Langdon Battery Coastguard Station? If so, why not give them a ring (01304 210 008)? IIRC they do 'open days'.

It is and I will have to enquire. The view point I was at next to them on Fox Hill was very good but I would imagine their view is a tad better.

I upgraded a few weeks back purely for the camera on this one. I so rarely make calls but just use it for photos, internet/gps access and messaging. Saves carrying a camera around especially when cycling.However if this twitching lark I appear to have got into gets anymore interesting,which I think it will, I think there could be a diversion of funds to the camera shop.

@Hill Wimp - What phone have you got? Mine is now nine years old, and it might be time for an upgrade.

A very small camera that takes good photos, and can make the occasional phone call seems a good idea to me.

@Hill Wimp knows all about that. She helped me ease the guilt of buying a zoom lens for my camera when she was here I last month. I repaid the compliment with her binoculars.

Hmmm. I've been looking again at train times. It'll be approx £175 to get there with my bike for a morning start so I'll be giving that a miss but if the weather's good, I'm pondering a later train to get to Oxford for lunch , possibly with Idiot Dog if a picnic is on the cards, and then mooch around the city with my camera in the afternoon.

I think it is still free too, unlike busses (they charge) although it's been over 5yrs since I took mine on one.
