I visited Davaar Island this morning, but gave up on the going to see the famous cave painting as the path was across boulders and it was playing havoc with my ankle. I did go to the lighthouse.

I then had a leisurely ride to Carradale where I will be for the next two nights. I spent a lot of time making minor detours and spent quite a bit of time at Saddell.

I think I have the smallest hotel room ever (I'm not complaining as it was very cheap and includes breakfast). There's barely room to set my panniers on the floor and if I sit on the toilet seat in the ensuite, I can't close the door as it hits my knees.

I got roped into taking part in a pub quiz in the bar downstairs to make up a team. We didn't finish last at least! Two rounds on film related stuff. I don't generally watch films, and as it turned out, none of my team mates did either.

Running total is 139 miles. Today was short in terms of distance but included an awful lot of climbing.

When I did NCN78 in 2019, I rode from Campbeltown to Lochgilphead in one day! I think I'd really struggle to do that now. 😔

I remember Lochgilpead! One night got devoured by mossies whilst sleeping on a boat as we transited the canal

Excessive quantity of plastic bags needing recycling noted so a pre first ☕ Aldi trek before it got too hot for such. The unnade part of the footpath down to the A59 is just passable without being nettled. There is a directionally v shaped tarmac alternative.
Opportunity taken to replenish orange squash and handwash stock and they had just put out some linen short sleeved shirts @ £6.99. Seemed to largely XXL sized but did fine a L green and a L blue, maybe the only ones. There was also a patterned version.
Made a rare return via the outbound route to make use of the shade from trees and hedges. The smell of a passing livestock lorry lingered.

we are under a "heat advisory" today
