The cold water in my thermos was taken from the cold water dispenser :heat:

Have you seen that water fountain device that recently appeared in Canterbury?

I remember Lochgilpead! One night got devoured by mossies whilst sleeping on a boat as we transited the canal

I remember it too from 2019. I had been planning to camp in the campsite that is somewhere nearby, but the heavens opened as I approached town. I decided to see if any b&b's had a room and somewhere in the town, I stopped at a junction, and looked across the road at some man standing in a doorway looking out at the rain. I then realised it was a b&b, so shouted across asking if he had a room. "Aye, would it be all right at £30" was the reply. With water pouring down my face, I said it would be great!

Most unusual way I've ever booked accommodation!

Is that Manchester Parish in Jamaica, do you think?
Could have been, but for Oldham not being in the parish.

I did a lot today without really going very far. I discovered there was a forest track through the wind farms that would more or less take me to the Gigha ferry so I thought about a day trip. A major navigational error in the forest, even by my standards, meant I rode for two hours and ended up back where I started. Oops:banghead:

I did make it to the other side but it was too late really to make it worthwhile to go to the island.

I still enjoyed today, very relaxing and basically traffic free apart from the odd construction lorry. All the drivers were very friendly and some stopped to speak to me.

I had food but decided to stop at a pub up the road for dinner as I felt I'd earned it, and felt not particularly welcome by the barmaid. I hadn't booked and they're very busy apparently. There were only two other customers:wacko:

Rolling total around 180 miles now, very, very hilly and nearly all gravel roads today. Easily my longest ever off road ride. I see why suspension was developed for MTBs as my hands hurt from the vibration now.

It's been a hot and sunny day here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept reasonably well, although lady issues meant slumber was interrupted with trips to the little girls' room during the night. This morning's tasks included watering all the planters and picking cherries.

Had a lovely luncheon of a tiger roll, hummus, the last of the Langres cheese, fruit and a :cuppa:

Afternoon's tasks included potting up the last triffid, ah tomato plant, into its planter, washing the Lexter's Cone of Shame *again* and then popping out to Tesco for bread, milk and some go-juice for the car. I came by some more cheese on YS.

Supper was a chunk of Melton Mowbray pork pie (a very nice Dickinsons & Morris one), a tiger roll filled with egg mayonnaise, plus some fruit and a :cuppa:

A quiet evening is intended.

Forgot to mention the slight panic when I couldn't find my house keys when I went to leave this morning - finally found them in the lock for the Asgard bike shed in the back garden! Thankfully it's a quiet area round here, the back gate was bolted and I've got 6' fences all round.

Time for this evening's hot chocolate and a treat of a couple of spoonfulls of ice cream while the milk's being nuked.
