It's been a grey but rather warm day here chez Casa Reynard.
Did not sleep well. Was really cold and restless for some reason. I did have a bit of a lie in, but that was where any thought of taking it easy kind of stopped. Picked fruit in the garden - a ladder job for the Mirabelle plums, but feet firmly on Terra Firma for the Czar plums. Laundry all folded and put away and ingredients sorted for supper.
After a couple of quckly-sunk

it was off to the village. Stopped off at the garage to book Colin's MOT and drop off a tin of biskits as a "thank you" for not charging me for a headlight bulb previous Friday, then dropped off a kilo of plums at a friend's place. After that, went to the Community Orchard and the nature reserve.
The search for blackberries was a bit, well, fruitless. They're not ripe in there yet. Still, I had a nice brisk walk around the meadow at the bottom of the trail. The orchard yielded some early apples - there weren't many to start with, and what little crop is on the tree is rotting, which is sad. So picked a small bag - it'll be enough for a crumble or a szarlotka (Polish apple cake). Also picked a similar sized bag of Old Thack plums (they taste SO different to mine!) and about a dozen or so sort-of-ripe greengages to plop in the fruit bowl.
On the way home, stopped off at the book exchange. I didn't need the motor racing book I picked up the other day (I forgot I had a copy on my shelf) and swapped it for an Arthur C Clarke novel and a book on Evel Knievel.
After that, it was back home to cook supper. While everything was in the oven, all the outside planters were thoroughly watered.
Supper was a cheese, onion, bacon & sage quiche, buttered Cornish new potatoes and a salad of tomato, cucumber & feta cheese. With a helping of plum crumble and custard for afters. Good job that luncheon kind of fell by the wayside today...
A quiet evening is planned, cos I'm knackered.
