I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack! :wahhey:

Finally managed to browbeat BT into submission and send out an engineer. Took them three hours today to trace and fix the fault (which included having to send for a cherry picker). End result is that they had to replace the entire cable run and all the connections from the cluster on the pole across the street, to the pole on my corner, and thence to the house. They've also done away with the extra bit of wire along the eaves.

Glad to have my internet again, I've used up SO much phone credit just trying to do everything that wanted doing. And chase up BT on top of that.

Hooray

Welcome back. And what's for supper?

A long day. I had an appointment to keep with my bank so was out of work for most of the morning. I opened the account many years ago in the town closest to where I grew up. That branch is now closed for about 15 years and all accounts moved to another branch. I have sorted out my mortgage and any other banking things in the branch in this town. When I was invited in for this meeting to discuss things to do with my insurance payment, it never occurred to me that they set it it up in the other branch where my account was moved to. I only realised yesterday when I read the reminder email. I had to drive there this morning and sit in a traffic jam.

So after a short break, some food and popping out to the shop for groceries, I made up the three hours. Not long finished.

Work was it's usual head wrecking nonsense!

I need another weekend away!

Anyone have or had a Roku? Mine is annoyingly requiring the WiFi connection to be checked before it will connect to iPlayer. Assuming is on the way out. Have it on the kitchen tv so that it gets local news from Leeds rather the Newcastle output that Freeview gets.

Got blood sample taken from the top of the hand (with my permission) instead of usual vein in the arm (apparently nurse couldn't find blood there, hahaha). Hand veins are more painful but hey ho, nurse got my blood eventually. I've got sore hand and a nice bruise evolving.
Anybody asks how you got the bruise, tell them you'll give them a demonstration with the unbruised hand.

Factory reset seems to be answer. Reminds me of my 2003 Seat Ibiza that on the way for its service and first MOT every warning light on the dashboard came on. Resolved by the garage resetting it to new from the factory.

Knowing my sense of humor the answer most likely will be along the lines of "tried new powder and needle broke off" followed by "oh wait, I don't do drugs".
When I cough I have a habit of saying "I really should stop smoking" followed by "hang on, I've never smoked". It always leaves people confused.

Anything that stops them asking a second time works.
