Hate to say it but you're wrong, Galvanising is a Zinc coating not Lead. As someone who worked in a Brass* Foundry as a 'Freehand Greensand Moulder' for 7 years and poured my own boxes I was well aware of what we called a blast of fumes and as we made quite thin ornamental pieces** the Brass had to be got very hot in order that it didn't 'miss-run' i.e not completely fill the cavity but solidify before getting to the edges.
People who Braze also know this affliction and it's not very pieasant.

*Brass is an alloy of Copper and Zinc

** We made fire Irons, decorative embellishment for Iron fire grates, fenders for fires, spandrels for clock faces, handles for furniture and thousands of Brass decorative plaques for pubs (ladies, gents, beer from the wood etc) and Brass ornaments amongst many other things like Brassware for restored steam engines. If it was cast in Brass we'd make it (or replicas of it)

I would agree here, My father was a wire drawer and galvanizer for KCI (Think Red Brand Fence, for farms and the like). The zinc DID float on a lead bath, but that was beneath the zinc. I always thought welding illness came from the gas used to envelop the weld.
