My old slippers are in the bin. I've been finding little bits of black stuff on the kitchen floor and finally worked out that it was from the soles of the slippers slowly disintegrating. As with bike parts, I always keep spares so these have been pressed into service.

Thanks to the overcast weather, most of the morning was spent on the sofa with the Autocar best of 2025 special magazine which I picked up last week having listened to the 'My week in Cars' podcast for a while. An afternoon bike ride was had without mudguards for the first time in a while and then back onto the sofa to catch up with the news on the Chromebook.

Retirement is a hard life isn't it.

The evening's hot chocolate has just been had.

I've used paperclips for years...

I remember using those as well, on our ALL AMERICAN Christmas ornaments (bought during the war, or a bit before it, so we were not buying Christmas ornaments from the usual source of Christmas ornaments in The States.)

First working day of the week completed. Only four more to go...not that I'm counting or anything!

I had dinner out tonight with some people from my dance class. I had spaghetti Bolognese

I've just written and addressed all my Christmas cards (all five of them!). Stamps applied, so I will drop them in the postbox tomorrow morning when I'm out for my perambulation (I will more than likely be halfway around my walk and suddenly remember they're still sitting on the table!)

I have set up the play tunnel for Madam Ruby, and she is now busy having fun.

Right, time I put the writing away, banked the fire for the night and hobbled off upstairs to bed.

Funeral held, father-in-law buried, in an unusual style service facilitated by SWMBO and supported by a retired minister friend in a borrowed chapel rather than the local Catholic church.

We did what he wanted her to do for him, which definitely wasn't in the traditional Irish funeral book, but it went well. Think non-alcoholic story-telling Irish wake with a bit of music and a burial on the hillside and you'll have a decent approximation.

I can see her doing more of these.

sorry for your family's loss. my Father's passing 3 years ago was far reaching. the story telling was a surprising highlight & immensely cathartic for everyone. thinking we should refer to some funerals as a commencement, meaning, now we must begin to live without

Two boxes of christmas baubles dragged out of the loft but hooks pretty scarce. The Range, Morrisons and Sainsbury's all came up blank. Did a very small shop in Morrisons and a slightly bigger one in Sainsbury's where the hazards of using a hand scanner arose.
There's will not scan reducations and you have to scan them at the checkout. Driving away I suddenly remembered the half price Yule log which not only had I not taken out of the trolley but also had not scanned. Probably some well meaning customer has now desposited it at customer services on the basis someone who had paid forgot it

No baubles on our tree Mrs 73 is not a fan so she banned them from our tree. I did get away with the few round the back but that soon got stopped. We've plenty of other hanging stuff, all have a meaning from ones that are older than me, to newer Snoopy ones right up to festive koalas bears all the way from Australia via Mrs 73's best friend. Pride of place is a small plush Westie we spotted in John Lewis sale when they had a westie as that years Christmas theme. It was not long after we lost our 1st dog. Which now remembers all our 3 boys and the fun they had at Christmas.

I can't see what it is doing outside at the moment. My friend is bringing his car round for me to spray his bumper so I hope it is dry out.

i was risen before Drago.06-45.I dare not sleep in.I have to be at the pub early.We take over the bottom lot of tables,to dress them up all Christmassy like.I am out in ten mins,it is going to be a long but great day,much fun and laughter.
