Good morning from Suffolk where it's been blue skies, sunshine and very cold all morning.

Coffee has been had after a second very good night's sleep in a row. The rest of the morning will see me being very busy doing nothing.

225watts peak output from our solar panels for one day this week. That must have been yesterday when it was sunny. 8 panels not doing a great deal. They are not going to do much today covered in frost with the sun partially hidden by mist.

My system has a theoretical maximum output of 4kWh (1.7 kWh at the moment due to the low sun) but on Tuesday last week when it was especially dull, the total for the day was only 0.9kw.

It's afternoon, sunny, and the frost on the flat-roofed block opposite still hasn't melted where it's in the shade. It may be the coldest midday of the year. I can predict that tomorrow will also be the coldest midday of the year. Though, of course, it will also be the warmest...

I'm considering bothering my daughter and g-kids for an end-of-year coffee.

A day of painting beckons. I'm in Lincoln at son no. 1's helping paint more of the house he bought a few months ago.

It's a hallway to be done today although the colour is still to be decided. Suggestions for a narrow hall without natural light? He's thinking a pale green. It's currently orangey and peeling.

yeah, not orange. I'm sure whatever you all pick will be fine

In other news, I came across a Altura Vapour jacket on ebay - hardly used and just £19 delivered - £120 RRP. I want something to replace the Altura Varium jacket that's now falling to bits, but this jacket is more a waterproof, so will be used as a backup. Popped it in the wash with tech wash and re-proofer alongside some MTB pants. Definitely waterproof as the water just ran off it when taking it out of the washer - it's a technical stretchy fabric with a membrane so supposedly more breathable.
