Done my last shift at the cat sanctary for about a month  pre my hernia op on Wednesday.
Not permitted to cycle or drive for at least three weeks after, so guess I'll be catching up on all those wee 'genteel jobs' for a while - !

A wee dog maybe, but according to Chris Packham, even a wee dog like Bonnie can outwalk and outrun pretty much any human. ^_^

She can certainly outrun me but I can outwalk her... 👍

She's happy on 3 or 4 miles; I'm still capable of 12 or 13 hilly miles but usually limit my aging body to about 10 lest bits start dropping off..

As mundane WAH days that was mundane. As such by 4 it was a case if what shall I do earger than what must I do.
I decided to sort out the pile of work folders, only a few of which ever get touched and at the bottom one I had dragged out of the office at the start of lockdown
Stuff in it went back to to mid 2000s so the stredder quickly into action on all sorts of documents and memos from colleagues long gone and the relevance of them today irrelevant.

It's been a bright, mild and decidedly spring-like day here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept really well now that my leg has stopped itching / being painful. Those iodine dressings are not going to be used again. Did all the basic chores, and then took myself off into the garden to do a spot of lumberjilling. I've used a LOT of firewood this last fortnight, and so I need to top up the stores again - not in any danger of running out, but there's still too much of winter left to be complacent.

Had a lovely luncheon of wholemeal toast, pate with mango chutney, a banana, a tangerine and a :cuppa:

Then back out into the garden to haul in what I'd cut and stack it in the garage. It was really nice to be out in the fresh air. I startled a couple of roe deer and a male pheasant. He was a handsome fella, but couldn't help thinking he'd make a tasty casserole!

That done, then it was off erranding. Went to Littleport to pick up mum's prescription, and thence to Aldi to pick up a few bits. Went the back way on the old A10 via Chettisham, as there's roadworks on the bypass and I've better things to do in life than sit in a traffic jam.

Bread, milk, butter, plain yoghurt and herbal teas were procured. Picked up four packets of their posh seeded sourdough at 75% off. There were doughnuts and cream cakes on sticker, but I've still too much sweet stuff left over from the hols, so didn't bite.

Almost came home with a stickered (half price) gammon joint, but then common sense got the better of me and I put it back on the shelf. The joint was unsmoked, and my preference is for smoked. Had it been a smoked gammon or had it been 75% off, then I'd likely have taken it. But I have a gammon in the freezer, so yeah...

Fed the cat (Felix AGAIL with chicken & kidney), and then I fed me. Had a lovely supper of thai-spiced pumpkin & red lentil soup, then avocado on toast, with curried beans, grilled baby plum tomatoes, some salady stuff that needed using, and a fried egg plonked proudly on top of everything. I *may* have been a bit too enthusiastic with the chilli sauce, as my nose is still dribbling!

Now sat by the fire watching the snooker.

It's a lot milder today, milder but damper. A big looming cloud, ready for a heavy bit of rain, has just managed to pass overhead without spilling a drop. One thing about the milder air, it's now just a bit too warm indoors. I'll have to twiddle the thermostats a tad.

Started off with thermals under my gardening clothes, but had to come in and divest myself of them* as I was just a little bit hot.

* the thermals, not the gardening clothes.

Ours are
Smokey- Mo, Mo-Mo (British Blue shorthair)
Winter- Wints, Annie Fan-tail (Long haired black and white)
Rainbow- Poink (multi-colour and white shorthair)

Rainbow is the latest cat to wander in and decide to stay, given the name by our Romanion neighbours where she lived briefly she earned the nickname by being a small but excited little head that pops up all wide eyed.

Latest in a line of Cats that have decided 'We live here' although there is a Cat-Flap so they come and go as they like I strongly suspect that she lived 2 doors away until they got a dog when their 2 cats were 're-homed' before the people were evicted and 'Rainbow' made her way back to her old area and lived by 'Cat-Flap raiding' for a few months before settling on us. She was a scrawny wee thing a couple of years back, looked like a kitten and very nervous but I think she was older (about 2 I'd say) making her around 4 now and has 'filled out' nicely'
Bit like Thomas did with you.

Photos are mandatory, you know!

Another late afternoon and evening of doing very little except to put the washed clothing on the clothes horse and trying to stay awake. A hotel booking has been made for September fairly close to Silverstone as the European Le Mans Series is returning and it's the only motorsport event I've got bookmarked this year.

Next up is the evening's hot chocolate.
