Good morning from Suffolk where it's been a grey, damp and misty start to the day. With rain on the way it looks like another indoor day ahead. Coffee has been had.

@Illaveago 's car battery problems from yesterday reminded me that I really need to give my car a run as it hasn't been moved since Ch****mas Eve, but that probably won't be happening today with the mist & rain. Just hope that the solar battery maintainer has been able to keep enough trickle charge to overcome the draining effects of the cold.

Oh well that didn't go down well.

MrsF has mentioned why don't I go bike packing a bit more, and a few months ago mentioned I'd like a new bike for that. Happened to mention it last night, bad mistake. She was like' well I bet you've already got one'. I said, I was considering a "bike to work" one.

Given she's been to Croatia, Scotland, Anglesey and now Iceland on swimming holidays, I don't think a bike is that expensive... and the fact that I am the only earner in the house ?

Did she swim all the way to Croatia?

Amazing!

Morning.
It is grey and drizzling here.
I must have saved quite a bit fitting the car battery myself. If I had gone by what the warning light on the dash had said, I would have taken it to a garage to sort out the handbrake calibration warning and then for them to tell me that I needed a new battery. It took me almost an hour to fit as it was hidden away in the boot with electronics fixed to a metal bracket above it. So I suppose £300+ ?

I dread the day the van needs a battery. Someone else can do it. It's in the engine bay, at the 'top'. I say top, it's a good two foot drop down to the battery from the bonnet so needs you to climb in. Add that with all the electronic gubbins (like you mention above) attached to it, and other 'stuff' in the way... nah.
