@dave r oh OK, did the character have breakfast in bed then? I don't consider it that unusual myself. It is a nice easy way to start the day I reckon.

Had a lovely luncheon of three slices of tiger loaf, one with the last of the smoked salmon terrine, one with manchego cheese and one with chocolate spread, plus an apple, the aforementioned Lane Late orange and two :cuppa:

The orange was lovely, not sweet, but very orangey. It's a variety I always buy when I see it in the shops as I really rate it. The damage on this one was just the rind, nothing wrong with the rest of it at all.

At least you don't have to pay more than £200 for logs! They've gone up a bit.

I guess I don't count my labour when I do firewood...

It was one of the many reasons for planting the woodland thirty years ago. We've no mains gas out here, so it's either oil or solid fuel heating. And it's the latter chez Casa Reynard.

One of the neighbours down the drove, shortly after he moved in, heard a chainsaw on the go (it was New Year's Day) and came to a) investigate, b) introduce himself and c) said I'll help you with that if I can have half the logs.

Told him I didn't need any help, and that while the logs were spoken for, he could help himself to kindling and deadfall. I haven't seen the man since. Funny, that...

First day back at work since Christmas (shifts now in short supply) and it's all gone to pot. The manager has not just reinvented the wheel she's smashed it to bit's. Not sure this new set up and role is working for me, found out two more of my team are leaving now would be the ones who you have a laugh with. To top it off the walk home was a bit cold and wet.

I'd say I can't understand why anyone would go to see a doctor you didn't know. That said, since we moved I've visited the doctor more frequently than ever before & never seen the same doctor.

So far as the touroid are concerned they have time on their hands and do not have to take time off work for example. There is also the case that all prescriptions are free but not necessarily so in England or Wales.

Bright day but bitterly cold.
Got out to try to work out the new trike up at my wildlife pals place as it is private and has access to forestry roads.
Eventually got several problems sorted out and had a few hill climbs with it. The motor kept cutting out going uphill but I decided I was not keeping constant pressure on the pedals and relaxed too much. Keep pushing and the motor kept going steadily.
Strange noise from I think the gearbox which did not seem to change cleanly sometimes but again possibly operator error.
Since my pal had gone off to a funeral I had the place to myself tho' I did not know who had died but in any case nobody I knew when he told me.
Also discovered I can get it in the car without using ramps which is good.
Now knackered as not been triking for at least 3 weeks and the new [to me ] one is higher geared than I would like. It is possible to change to a smaller chainring but it would mean taking the whole thing to Glasgow. I will investigate the Oban shop first.
My fettling and fiddling days are sadly over.

Dealt with the butternut squash and sweet potatoes. They're all cut up into chunks and ready for roasting. Had a little bit of waste, but it wasn't the carnage I had anticipated.

Also made a big cauldron of vegetable soup using the stock from the gammon. It smells fabulous.

Now sat back watching the early evening news, eating a 2-finger kit kat and supping on a :cuppa:
