Ah! Forward planning !
There's nothing like the Civil Service for forward planning. Or should there be there's nothing like forward planning in the Civil Service?

9am today and an electrician pokes his head round the cabinets to inform us that he'll be switching off all the electric other than the floor units to power the PCs in 30 seconds as agreed - which we knew nothing about as it had been agreed with admin who 'forgot' to let us know! No lights, but more importantly NO KETTLE and you know how much Civil Servants rely on tea & coffee so he was persuaded to hold off for a few minutes while about a dozen people headed to make an emergency cuppa. Just over three hours later and power was restored and another mass visit to the kitchen ensued.

Raining heavily and more wind and rain forecast for the evening.

A mild and blustery day here chez Casa Reynard. Currently dry, but rain is heading this way.

Slept well, and have had a kitchen morning. Have sliced, diced, chopped and prepped. Some stuff still needs to be sorted after lunch, but soup is now essentially an assembly job, as is supper.

I have also divided up the pack of beef mince I bought on Saturday after it passed its inspection process courtesy of Mesdames Poppy & Lexi. Some has been diverted for their tea, some has been fried, cooled and popped in the fridge, ready to make a chilli with the dented cans of tomatoes and lentils I picked up on YS last Tuesday, and the rest has been turned into Filet Americain. :hungry:

Will also spend some more time on the research. The lion's share of the article has already been written (though it reads much more like an academic paper), and I'm now sorting out all the references and getting photographs into chronological order. Waiting on my historian friend to dig me out an advert and guide for the 1984 Racing Car Show from one of his boxes of stuff after both of us did an internet search and came up blank.

Anyways, it is time for luncheon.

Oh FFS.
This is a new machine. I've already had to do one re-start for updates, three more are currently downloading and the whole computer is running slower than a ZX81. On the bright side, it's currently sunny and not too windy and I'm due to finish in under an hour which means there's time for one last coffee of the shift.
