Waiting for a video call with the employment agency. This evening I have to go to the local office in person, I suspect it's for the same reason and they've got their wires crossed, again.

I've had a similar situation before where I cancelled the duplicate appointment in writing, twice, and still got a threatening letter from another department I "should have informed" so I'll go to both and give them the same information twice.

Ah! German efficiency for you !

There's at least two in this town that still have pump attendants.

TBH, I prefer to do it myself as when I was still driving the 205, I found using a key to manually unlock the pedal cap seemed to be beyond the intellectual ability of the average teenager and I usually had to get out and do it for them.

Now that I've got a Toyota, I can revel in that great Japanese tradition of having a cable-operated petrol flap so I can open it for them by pulling the little lever beside the seat. :becool:

Probably lucky that the C P didn't have a remote opening fuel flap as the cable would have either snapped or gone off too hard and sent the flap across the forecourt like a rusty Frisbee!

Dull grey morning and that is just the weather.
The linkspan has been fixed by a locally based firm so ferries are running again. Not much use to me as I cannot get on any of them. They are all fully booked.
Not sure what they do about foot passengers when the new paperless system comes into force. I think you have to be prebooked but Michelle did not bother explaining to to me as I do not normally travel without a car. Must investigate as I have been considering taking the trike over which will be easier to get on even if car space is fully booked.
The debacle yesterday has upset my catering arrangements as I have been running down supplies of some things in the expectation of getting more in. Just need to be a bit more inventive for the next week.
Dentist this afternoon to have a look at a back tooth which seems to have lost a filling or a bit of tooth has fallen off.

That makes sense as Japanese petrol stations have attendants who not only fill the car and take your cash/card to the till, they also wash the windscreen while the tank is filling up and bow when you drive off; you never need to leave the vehicle.

Years ago, remote boot releases were common on Japanese cars too but it no longer seems to be case.

My aunt's Datsun 120Y seemed like the Starship Enterprise back in day compared to things like Cortinas and Escorts. It had all mod cons like radio, remote fuel and boot release and an engine that started in wet weather.

The downside those remote releases is that if the cable breaks, as happened in the Mitsubishi Galant my brother had years ago, is that cable replacement is a right PITA.
