Is there an area called "Pensylvania Dutch"? The Dutch was a misspelling of "Deutsch". I am sure some of our foreign correspondents will know.

If you mean the picture, I thought it was German because of the roadside markers; these look like the standard type on German rural roads.

Yep, I'm originally from Enderby, now live in braunstone Frith (near Scudamore rd in fact 300yds away it'd be Glenfield) and what has happened is the people who owned thousands of acres of the former Cpt Drummond estate which was farmland sold up to developers.............so much of the area from LFE (Leicester Forest East for non locals) down to Desford and across from Enderby will be built on.
Eventually Desford will become (like Enderby) a suburb of Leicester, you won't even know you've left the city.................Still look at the revenue Blaby District Council a safe 'tory seat' will be making.

It’s certainly heading that way .I left my hometown Loughborough in 1966 There are areas of Loughborough I no longer recognise Fields we used to play in as kids have disappeared under bricks and mortar Loughborough has nearly reached Shepshed

The streets around where I lived all largish terraced properties close to town centre are now almost exclusively HMO occupied by students which means the majority are only occupied in term time. These house’s were good family homes which would have been ideal for those first time buyers struggling to get on the housing ladder.

I used to live on the edge of town surrounded mostly by open fields. Now it is all houses and more going up. I used to hear a cuckoo about now but their habitat has gone.

Dryish day but overcast. Got out for a trike run but far too much traffic. Did not bother me too much as I stopped to look around quite often and was not in a rush.
Experimented with the loading ramps and got them to a length where I can push the trike in with one hand and steer with the other. Bolted them to length so less faff.

Back to town an enormous cruise boat is in. The main benefit is fees for the Harbour Authority.
On the beach spied what looked like my old Westerly in to get her bottom scrubbed ( no sniggering).
A local artist did a painting some years ago and I bought a print showing her waiting on low tide.
Not sure what the white square is but probably a reflection.

I really like those old pictures.

I am pleased to report that I now have a working toaster. Didn't replace like-for-like, as the price has nearly doubled in the three years since I bought the one that went *fzzzzzt* though admittedly, it was on a clubcard offer at the time. Bought one in the range below for £23 as it was a colourway that was being discontinued.

I am also pleased to report that Tesco *finally* has Gold leaf tea back in stock @deptfordmarmoset - it's been moved to the "Finest" range and has gone up 5p on the pack, but it's still 250g.

Cats have been fed, and now it is time to feed me.

I really like those old pictures.

The print has been on my living room wall for years and sun has faded it a bit. There were only 100 prints made and all numbered. When the last one sold he drew the numbers out of a hat and the winner got the original. Annoying thing is the winner was not that interested apparently but his name snd address were no longer on file so I could not offer to buy it.

Despite looking increasingly like it will no rain this evening so far but I gave the ebike an evenings rest for the first time this week as some pretty heavy shopping was planned. However Asda have skillfully upped the price of 4 bottled orange J2Os to £4.50 from £3 to coincide with their eventual cashback award of £1.50 so not the potential bargain it would have been and four of the cans @ £2.65 bought instead. Then Morrisons were sold out of the reduced price floor cleaning pad liquid so maybe everything would have fitted two panniers and a rucksack without any undue toppling issues. But then no doubt the rain would have come.

Mrs 73 has just been emptying her bag of congress freebies and winnings. Along with the teddy that's crossed eyed I spotted a tin "what's in that?" Stroopwafels she tells me. :hungry: I think , She then tells me they are nice, I've eaten them
We were introduced to Stroopwaffels on a recent trip to Bonaire 😋

edit: I found some basic ones in Sainsbury’s. In Amsterdam airport there was a choice of flavours 😃
