4 Hedgehogs out there tonight. One is eating sunflower seeds spilt by the birds .

The last of my students who have extra time in the exam I started off at 10am yesterday have 5 minutes left to submit. I think there's still one out there completing it.

According to my tracking data two never signed in to start the exam, one's ill and another contacted me feeling ill so didn't submit. Everyone else is accounted for except one ...

I'm tired.

Edited: they didn't make it and won't be submitting.

So much for this morning's plans. I opened the shed to get the bike out to go shopping and was hit by the smell of the bags of fermenting grass clippings I'd put in there on Saturday and forgot about! Went back indoors and made a booking for the recycling centre for about an hour later and combined that with the shopping and getting the fuel for the weekend to save time not having to do that on the way out on Saturday. I was even given a voucher for 5p/litre off the fuel by someone in the queue while waiting to pay and that saved me £1

The weather even cleared up for the afternoon with some decent sunshine - even if it was a bit breezy - so I got out on the bike for a couple of hours.

No breaks to answer "natures call" resulting in extra time?

Well our Venga passed its MOT with 2 adversaries.
I went to see the road at Lyneham Banks. A landslide had blocked the road so I cycled along to have a look at it . It is no more! The hill has slumped and taken a whole section of the road with it . Pictures have shown the road twisted a bit like the suspension bridge which destroyed itself frozen in time . The road is missing apart from a few sections of tarmac not where they should be . I was amazed by the cross section of the tarmac layers going down 6 feet! I know the area was prone to land slips but to see that depth of tarmac!
I waited in that area as it was nice and peaceful with birds singing away . I saw a male Bullfinch! I haven't seen one for years .

Is there an area called "Pensylvania Dutch"? The Dutch was a misspelling of "Deutsch". I am sure some of our foreign correspondents will know.

Part of Eastern Pennsylvania around Lancaster had a lot of them Paradise, Bird-in-Hand, a number of other communities. Illinois has some as well, centered around Arthur and Tuscola and Tolono, and there is a colony of them at Amana, in Iowa, among other places. Stricter versions of Anabaptists like Mennonites and Apostolic Christians. Used to have communities in our area as well, but they could not maintain the lifestyle and became Mennonites and A.C.

If you were to freeze the action in 2 places you would get an example of what the road looked like, the severe twist and the missing bit .
They think the land slip was due to building on the hillside above that section of road . It is thought that too much weight was piled up above on the hill causing the slip which took the road out . It has been out for over a year and doesn't seem to have anything done for another year.
