It's been a warm and mostly sunny day here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept well. Morning was vacuumed up by gardening stuff, which included giving the grape vine another haircut. This afternoon's task was *meant* to be cutting the grass along the drain - which the local drainage board are supposed to do. Well, the grass was dead, but the burdock is just taking over.

Did about half, and then the mower just cut out on me, right at the back. Couldn't get it restarted, it's as dead as a dodo. So there I was, pushing a ride on mower through uncut knee-high stuff for about 400-odd metres in total, and into the garage. I'm knackered!

It's either an electrical issue, or the cutting deck is jammed. The latter is probably the most likely.

Had a lovely supper of cold chicken, jersey royals and a salad of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, fresh mint and feta cheese.

Now watching some tennis and football.

Today for lunch I had what was (in my mind) effectively a Sunday roast in a convenient plastic container, a pot if you will.
It differed slightly from the traditional ingredients many of us are used to, pasta instead of potato, tomato replaced carrots to name a couple.
Supplied with a little sachet of red sauce which was handy.

IMHO a Pot Noodle is waaaaaaaay better than those shakes.

A wasp was interested in my Rustique sandwich from the boulangerie this lunchtime. So it had a small piece and I had the large piece, plus a Tarte au Poivre whilst the wasp was busy munching the sandwich.

Waspie went away happy and none the wiser about missing a cake.

I'm assuming it was a tarte aux POIRES.

You might've found a tarte au poivre a bit, ahem, punchy.

With Microsoft ending support for Windows 10 soon and my machine not being capable of being upgraded simply due to the processor not being on the approved list, I've bitten the bullet and ordered a new to me refurbished machine with Windows 11. I'm going to have to spend a few hours backing up all this year's photos, music, documents, etc to external drives before I set the new machine up when it arrives. I've made an account with Firefox in the hope it will port over my favourites, passwords & settings, but being me, I'll probably note these all down somewhere on a word document 'just in case'.

Penultimate day of the working week completed. Only a half day to do tomorrow. I got somewhat wet walking home from the office.

I spent the evening writing most of my blog entry for Kintyre. I've still got more to do. For reasons unknown, MS office keeps switching to US English  Office came already installed on this laptop when I bought it. I think I actually preferred the freebie version I used on my last laptop.

It's the Jazz and Blues festival this weekend so I've popped out to see what music I can find on the opening night. I'm listening to great band right now but I'd call it rock and not jazz.

I've been given an award for all my years volunteering for the local arts festival. That was a surprise! I collect it next Thursday. No idea what it will consist of but cheques gratefully accepted...

I'm in much the same boat as you. But I've only had this laptop for three years (also bought refurbished), so have been in two minds as to whether to bite the bullet or not. Unfortunately, Madam Lexi's upcoming vet bill will pretty well much wipe out this year's quota of emergency spendables, and so I shall probably sit tight for a bit to re-build the spendables pot first.
