a customer at my part time job came in a cpl weeks ago. wanted to build shelves for her fiancé. said she had all her books in boxes & she wanted to finally get them unboxed. I made 6 shelves for her. we chatted about voracious readers & book "keeping". my brother keeps all his, my son might but I have no idea where they are. when I finish a book, it gets knocked around the house for a while & then I donate it to the library

your philosophy?

Some I keep, some I pass on to charity shops. It depends on the likelihood of me reading it again.

I don't buy much fiction anymore, but books on subjects I like - cars, tractors, cycling, I tend to keep.

In reality, I would need to live to be as old as Methuselah to re-read everything I have.

I also have the memory of a goldfish, so I probably could have got away with buying only one book in my life and endlessly re-reading it...

I tend not to buy books these days, using the public library instead. I tend to order stuff online from their catalogue then have it delivered to the local library that’s just around the corner. In theory you have to return borrowings within three weeks but in practice it’s easy to renew online and in any case they don’t seem to bother with overdue fines anymore.

Just eaten a red apple that I picked out of a tree myself

OK Adam, now you're done for

It's been a rather warm day here chez Casa Reynard, very soggy and squelchy early doors, but the rain cleared off at lunchtime and didn't return. Rained a fair bit overnight too.

Slept really well. Had a kitchen morning. Yesterday's shopping was put away, and I did all of the prep and crock pot loading for supper.

Lovely but somewhat late luncheon of a chunk of baguette, the last of the montagnolo cheese, an apple and a cuppa.

After that, I had to finish off making a parcel, and then it was off to town to try and catch the afternoon post. Missed it by about 5 mins, so it will go tomorrow instead. Had a sniff around Waitrose, and picked up a pack of chicken livers and a large Walkers pork pie on yellow sticker. Thence to Tesco for the bits I forgot yesterday. Picked up a loaf of bread, some croissants and some gaufres de liege on sticker.

Home to a delectable supper of lamb Aloo Keema, basmati rice, steamed green beans and a mint raita.

A nice quiet evening is planned.

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
A long day today. We've taken a lease on a property in Brampton, Cumbria, to help son no. 2 and moved items in there today.

Credit to Eden Valley Hospice furniture shop, as they were raided for budget furniture and other items, plus a massive yew dining table which was free from a family in Carlisle. That needed more bodies than we had to carry it!

We'll be having quite a few visits up there. It seems a nice town so far from two quick visits*; one to view properties a fortnight ago and the other today.

* technically I was there twice in 2017 when riding London-Edinburgh-London but don't remember any of it, particularly when riding back south-bound.
