Hospital appointment bingo this afternoon to my advantage hopefully. Phone rang, can we change it fom 950 Thursday to 230 Tuesday. Me - no.
Phone rings again, 920 Thursday

So hopefully a goid chance of that being almost on time.
Moneybox have sent me my statement, seems the amount transferred was right.

Work was slightly less stressful today and it was only a half-day anyway on a Friday.

My long weekend in Westport has begun, one week later than originally planned. A very tedious drive. I used to enjoy driving but can't be bothered anymore. Also, I had oiled the chain before I left with some random bottle of oil someone gave me years ago but I'd never used. It absolutely stinks, not unlike hypoid gear oil and because I have the bike in the back of my small hatchback, I could smell it all the way here

Still, I'm here now, the weather is nice and I'm looking forward to riding one of my favourite routes tomorrow over the Sheffrey Mountains. I promised myself this trip whenever I finally got my insurance cheque for my accident. It's been a stressful four years.

A couple of hours out mid - late afternoon today. Don't know how, but despite the amount of schools on the return part, I somehow managed to avoid getting caught up in the school run for any of them.

This is going to be a long weekend of motorsport for me - not only am I heading to Silverstone on Sunday, there's the Bathurst 1000 for Aussie Supercars (being recorded) in the early hours of Sunday and the IMSA Petit le Mans 10 hours at Road Atlanta from tea time on Saturday (will watch what I can on streaming and then catch up the full race replay when it goes on the IMSA web site).

This evening's hot chocolate is just approaching drinking temperature.

Well I went off piste a bit today. 40+ km wander through the lanes.
Amazing numbers of pheasants making the most of their last few days of relative safety.
The Komoot route dragged me along a long steep bit of a main road. Very unpleasant and long. Populated by loonie yummies in SUV's and worse.
Worst of all are the Amazon delivery vans. Looking at the scrapes, dents, damage and missing bits you do wonder if that's the van, what do they do to your parcel.

There was a very dodgy "bridle path" route too.
But beats a good day at the office.

I stopped at Taunton Deane services on the M5 Northbound this afternoon. It's grim. I thought it might be some kind of clever ironic art installation.

You know that people's attitudes can change from generation to generation. I was just thinking how it appeared in my old cats. Puss was the grandmother and Kitty was her daughter. Puss believed that their kittens should be brought up in the shed away from humans. Kitty thought that it would be an ideal place inside the house where it is nice and warm. The 2 cats passed each other in the kitchen, each carrying a kitten. One bringing one in and the other taking one back out!
In those days cats lived mainly outside for most of the day.

My old cat Kizzy was convinced that the safest place to have her Kittens was next to 'Dads' leg in the bed.

At the time I had a flat that was the entire top floor of a very large 4 storey terraced house and the main room was 23' by 15' (also a hall, bathroom and kitchen) but because the main room was a living room and a bedroom so I constructed a double bed 6' in the air accessed by a ladder ( I had a girlfriend from Finland who showed me this concept and it worked................the room looked no smaller cos the bed was up in the air with a chest of drawers and a chair underneath...............a real 'hippy pad 'man)

Anyhoo eventually I managed to pick her up and not fall off the ladder and plonked her into the (prepared) cardboard box where she had her 2 kittens (Pepi and Tomi)................. but the 2nd night after she' had them she climbed up the ladder with a little un then fetched the other

It looks grey out but dry. A group of us are going to catch a bus to Lyneham to see a model exhibition. That is if we can get in . If not I suppose it will be a visit to the REME museum and a bus trip back home.

I have managed to get 3 wires into my Cannondale frame. I found 2 bits of clear plastic tube in the frame. Each bit was just over 1 foot long and just over 1/16 in diameter. I don't think the previous cables ran through it as they only went part way into the frame but they did prove useful. I used my 1/16 brass rod to do the first run through the frame. I put a slight bend in one end and a right angle bend at the other. This way I could manipulate the brass tube when I saw it at the exit point. Once out I used a small piece of the plastic tube to slide over the brass tube and then glued my garden wire into the other end of the plastic tube and pulled it back through the frame. I will do a similar thing but using the garden wire and the new cable but going the other way. The new cables are plenty long enough so I can cut them to length once out. What a faf!
