Mistakenly had one of those late night ideas yesterday of moving glassware from kitchen cupboard to another. That was accomplished without problem but the contents of the cupboard they now occupied included three bags of sugar. One of which of some age gave way to the pressure of my thumb and a sugar fountain occurred. That was cleared up this morning.

A mild, dry and grey day here chez Casa Reynard, though everything outside was soggy after yesterday's deluges.

Slept well, but I just feel so tired and stressy. Ah, the joy of the perimenopause... That said, I did have a nice morning puttering about in the garden. Too wet to do firewood, but carried on removing the ivy from that large chunk of willow that came down. It has been denuded enough for me to get the chainsaw in and start cutting it up. Most of that is green wood, so it will have to be put to dry till at least next winter - ergo doesn't matter if it's a bit soggy from the rain.

Had a lovely luncheon of egg mayonnaise on toast, a pear and a :cuppa:

Drained the vinegar out of the jar where I'd been soaking the two rusty window catches as it had stopped fizzing. Rinsed the catches and lock plates under the garden tap - a lot of the rust has come off, one catch now rotates through it's full range. The other is still a bit seized, although I have managed to pry the old screws out. They're now back in a jar with a fresh dose of vinegar, and it's currently fizzing away - much more vigorously. The hallway does pong a bit! Looks like both sets will be salvageable - better than wasting time and effort hunting for new ones.

Also put the spinach I cooked yesterday in the freezer, and have removed a gammon to cook later this week. It's the other half of that big one I bought half price on a clubcard offer at Easter. It'll do us for a few main meals and some nice lunchtime sandwiches. A friend will also have her share.

Dropped off a portion of curry and a portion of lokshen kugel for the same friend at tea time. She won't need to cook tonight. She gave me three lovely cook book from the charity shop where she volunteers.

Now sat with a :cuppa: and watching the early evening news.

The BBC edited the Jan 6th Trump speech to make it sound somewhat misleading. Not that it *really* made too much of a difference. But the Orange One has objected - mainly in a bid to fill his already bulging pockets. Looking at the legalities, I think his libel suit will be chucked out. But heads have rolled here nonetheless.

His bid to fill his bulging pockets will probably come quickly unstuck. For starters is Panorama watched in the US?

:hello: from a damp and, by the looks of things, shortly to be very wet Sheffield - I'm hoping that i should miss the worst of it while in the venue, but the waterproof jacket will be used just in case.

An uneventful journey up here, followed by food, drink and a shower once booked into the hotel. no time for the customary quick snooze although the loud music should keep me awake. Time to start the walk up the road.
