Gas boiler has been serviced and given a clean bill of health, the engineer recons it's in good condition so I won't need to treat myself to a new one for a while.

While waiting for him to arrive I stuck a load of washing in the machine which has just started the spin cycle and went out and washed the car. Given that since then there's been yet another rain shower, the washing may not be put out on the line to dry and the car now needs polishing.

Time to put my feet up with a coffee for about an hour.

The rain radar appeared to be clear for the rest of the afternoon so I put the washing out to dry on the whirlygig - most of it was fleece tops which dry fairly quickly anyhow. Then I went out and polished the car as the stuff I use says it can be applied with a damp cloth, so a damp car made no difference. The outside windows of the car also had glass cleaner applied. Not wanting to waste the rest of a lovely sunny and cold afternoon I've also done the 4 mile version of my 1 hour walk.

A very busy day when I'd got a quiet one planned.

Phew! That was a struggle! My friend and I managed to get my seized seat post out. One of us twisting the frame whilst the other pushed upwards whilst it was held in a vice. Boiling water was poured onto the frame to try to expand it. It worked but it was a lot of twisting back and forth. The post was burried 6 inches down in the frame. After looking down inside the frame I could see corrosion below where the post had been.
