Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Funeral held, father-in-law buried, in an unusual style service facilitated by SWMBO and supported by a retired minister friend in a borrowed chapel rather than the local Catholic church.

We did what he wanted her to do for him, which definitely wasn't in the traditional Irish funeral book, but it went well. Think non-alcoholic story-telling Irish wake with a bit of music and a burial on the hillside and you'll have a decent approximation.

I can see her doing more of these.

Came back from London.
Had an idea for a while to go there to a specific shop to buy some Lithuanian food.
That shop is in Stratford shopping centre.
Maaaan .... I really hated the fact that teleportation hasn't been invented yet. All the people, crowds, more people, people everywhere. And that's Monday.
Oh and I got lost. In a shopping centre. Sigh.
Eventually after going in circles and other geometrical figures I somehow managed to go to the right direction.
Found that shop.
Now lying on my bed with belly full of Lithuanian food (herring fillet with beetroots and beetroot salad). Fridge full of other foods.
Conclusion: local Polish shop next time. All the next times.

Well I'm sick my deck!
Was left unsupervised and decided to get on with it.
Had to do the school carol service rehearsal first.
Then back for the real thing tomorrow.
The staff look knackered, lots of sickness and absence.

All this meant that I didn't get started until about noon.
But being on my own, suits me, I worked through. The foundations are in, the noggins installed and the membrane laid.
Final step is installing the decking boards. That should be sort of automatic. Does assume I got the measurements right and the frame is as level as I think it is.

Also I have to spend the rest of the week "down west".
To be continued

The greaseproof baking paper trick also works well with sandwich toasters, a hot cheese one being a definite must for a chilly lunch. Downside is does need them being toasted for a lot longer. Slowly putting up the christnas decorations.

It's been a mild, breezy and mostly sunny day here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept well, but woke up too early, so operating in a bit of a deficit. Leg continuing to improve - stairs are now much easier, as is using the clutch pedal in the car. The soreness is more localised now, but oh, the itching!

Anyways, had a gentle choresy morning, doing all the usual stuff. The postman stopped by to deliver only the third card of the season (with a sticker on the envelope warning of a fake stamp, no less!), and so I gave him his Christmas box. Oh he was well chuffed. Silly man was wearing shorts (brrrrr!) but he had this fabulous woolly beanie that looked like a Christmas pudding. It made me smile, and I told him his hat was cool. We had a quick chat and wished each other a Merry Christmas. He left with a big smile on his face, which I will admit, kind of warms the cockles of my heart.

Lovely luncheon of pate on toast, a banana and a :cuppa:

After, it was off to Tesco to see if I could bag me a couple of salmon sides for the freezer. I was half lucky, as I snaffled the last one on the shelf! So not a wasted trip, thank goodness. I also picked up two packs of "finest" sliced cooked chicken and a box of 210 PG Tips tea bags on sticker. So happy me.

Then it was back home, pick up the parental and drive to Littleport. I dropped mum off so she could do what she needed to do, and I headed to the Post Office to consign all my cards and parcels into the system. I *just* missed the cut-off time - never mind, everything will go tomorrow at some point.

Anyway, I'm now chilling out by the fire in my onesie after another successful day. Leg is only throbbing slightly.

Which ones you using ? A different one maybe more comfortable , can always ask Mrs 73 what options you may have

Dressings? It's whatever the Minor Injuries unit slapped on last Wednesday. Some kind of clear gel thing, then two thicknesses of sterile cotton padding, and a fairly standard compression bandage over that. And covered with a length of tubigrip. It's all starting to look a bit cockeye, especially where I've been sticking my fingers in to scratch!

I've got an appointment this Saturday to have the stitches removed and the dressing changed - that's the earliest I could get anywhere locally.

Doh, clipper guard came off my hair trimmers. I now have a very short patch of hair on the side of my head. Tried to hide it a bit by using a 3mm guard on the nearby area. Whoops - just in time for Christmas. Time for some new clippers I think as these are past it, and my regular guards are knackered. Fortunately, I should be able to give my sides a quick trim just before Christmas as my hair grows quickly.

I'll just tell people I'm 'down with the kids' cutting stripes into my hair !

Bob, the cat, will be thirteen in January. He is very vocal aka non-stop squeaks starting late in the evening.

I had assumed it was because he was hungry, and fed him (two or three times). The squawky squeaks continue. Has he forgotten how to tell me he wants to go out?

He might eventually settle down, but then wants to sleep on my bed. Bearing in mind his age, has anyone got any suggestions to discourage this late night noise/racket?
