In other news, I came across a Altura Vapour jacket on ebay - hardly used and just £19 delivered - £120 RRP. I want something to replace the Altura Varium jacket that's now falling to bits, but this jacket is more a waterproof, so will be used as a backup. Popped it in the wash with tech wash and re-proofer alongside some MTB pants. Definitely waterproof as the water just ran off it when taking it out of the washer - it's a technical stretchy fabric with a membrane so supposedly more breathable.

Lunchtime sandwich was one of those this time of year specials; the last of the ham with cheese and cranberry sauce. Now the last piece of Christmas cake.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Went to the hospital for a blood test the doctor ordered but they wouldnt see me as the doc didnt give me a form so i had to go back to the GP and get the form and get them to book another appointment , whilst i was there i asked for another appointment to see the gp again about my knee pain which is back again after a week on the turbo
Im getting really fed up with it now as its been ongoing for 6 months with no end in sight , x rays , mri , doctors and physio cant find anything that could be causing pain for this long but i cant do consistent riding at any decent pace or it flares up agin .
On top of which the off i had before x mas means the ribs are still sore so i cant do any meaningful gym work either so im just pootling around the house all week unable to do anything i enjoy .

A day of unbroken sunshine in this corner of Suffolk today which made the 2 1/2 hours out on the bike in the afternoon really enjoyable - especially as what warmth there was in the sun made up for it never getting above 3°C all day. Just as good was the half hour flat out in the sleeping bag on the sofa having a quick snooze.

As for tonight - I've just had the evening's hot chocolate, the heating is on, there's beer in the fridge, snacks (if needed) in the cupboard and I have stuff to watch and books to read.

See you all next year

It's been a bright, sunny but rather chilly day here chez Casa Reynard. Drive and house roof never defrosted.

Slept well enough. Got the chores out of the way, and then hoofed it off to Tesco for a spot of yellow stickering. Even turning up just gone one, it was a bit too late, a lot of the good stuff had gone. A mate (who heads the fruit & veg dept) said the cabinets were rammed early doors. Ah well, hey ho.

That said, I still found some nice bargains. Two half litre bottles of full cream single source milk, two 400g trays of ham, some giant sausage rolls and a couple of small brie cheeses with truffle. Cleared the shopping list while I was at it, and a furkle in the clothing aisle yielded a pair of fleece lined leggings similar to what I was after in B&M - but in a much more sensible size and cut. No size 12 to be had, so went up a size rather than down. For comfort when slobbing at home, I don't mind a bit of the old Nora Batty LOL!

Had a lovely late luncheon of sourdough toast, one slice with smoked salmon pate, the other with smashed avocado, plus a tangerine, an apple and a :cuppa:

Sorted the fire out after, and did a load of handwash laundry before a well-earned sit down.

Fed the cat (Felix AGAIL with salmon & sardine), then fed me. Thai-spiced pumpkin & red lentil soup, sourdough toast, one slice with home made chicken liver pate, one slice with some Pont l'Eveque cheese from one of the posh assortments I picked up on clearance, and half a lovely ripe mango. And a :cuppa: of course.

A quiet evening catching up with stuff on the i-player in the company of the cat is planned. The onesie is on, as are the obligatory fluffy pink socks.
