A grey, squelchy and very soggy day here chez Casa Reynard.
Did not sleep well, as my back was protesting somewhat. Had the usual choresy morning, which included ironing my white coat, as I am stewarding at a cat show in Buckden (Godmanchester) on Saturday.
Had a lovely luncheon of a chunk of Melton Mowbray pork pie, then toast with a bit of a very nice ripe brie, plus an apple, a tangerine and the obligatory
After, I chopped a load of firewood (fortunately ash splits very easily), got two bins of kindling out from under the weather and re-jigged the wood stores in the garage.
Then it was off to town to square away some errands. First stop Tesco for some bananas, the new magazine and a small cardboard storage tray. Picked up fruited teacakes and a box of Sheba cat food pouches on yellow sticker. Finally spotted one of my usual till ladies - hadn't seen her for a while as she'd switched to an earlier shift over the festive season - and gave her her Christmas jar of jam.
Traffic was bloody horrendous, so by the time I got to the butcher, they were already closed. Ho hum. Next stop Savers for a fresh supply of my antihistamines and some vit D tabs, the latter in the hope that it will ease the issues I've been having with my back and hips. Worth a try at any rate.
Thence to Waitrose - more of an "if I'm in the area I might as well" - for a packet of their Gold leaf tea. Got lucky on sticker in there too, with a Bury black pudding, two Aberdeen Angus burgers and a 400g chunk of lamb breast off the counter for just under £4.50 all in.
Home for a lovely supper of the last of the pumpkin & red lentil soup, then seeded sourdough bread with homemade gravlax, and apple & mango crumble with custard for afters. Madam Boo had a little tin of Gourmet pate with turkey.
I am now sat beside the fire watching the snooker.
