Two of those seven were in a single vehicle incident, that early reports indicate may have been due to a medical issue.
On a road with no speed cameras, at a time when very few cyclists would have been out.

There seems to be a faction that is trying to use the increasing number of road fatalities to bring in his vis and helmet laws. Neither will make the slightest difference but some still seem to be pushing for it.

The 16 year old who was killed walking her dog will probably give them ammunition, even though the unfortunate girl was apparently using a pedestrian crossing when she was hit.

On the subject of his vis, I was out for a walk and a woman had crashed into a parked lorry, clearly at a fair speed. She didn't see it apparently. A car transporter sitting outside a car showroom. If people can't see lorries, what hope do cyclists and pedestrians have!

I can confirm the score as Scania 1: VW Golf 0!

Hi-vis and helmets would have been useless in the single vehicle, medical incident crash.

Mine isn't

On paper it is, but there's stuff which needs looking at before tomorrow. And no, I don't get paid overtime.

:surrender:

I don't get overtime - days off in leiu but having stacks of annual leave due to being ill last year hav not taken any of that for ages. Its around 16 1/2 hrs at present and given 20 hours is the maximum permitted I am advoiding adding more to it if I can.

Just reported four unknown males acting oddly around a works van and two cars(driving away in one) to the police. And the van's driver has come out all guns blazing. He'd just sold a car, although I never saw him out there. I didn't know whose cars they were "looking" at.

The fact that I tried to stop anyone nicking or damaging the van or nicking either van or cars, didn't sit well with him.
They get one, there's a good chance they'd be back again. He's had two cars written off in previous attempts, and one actually driven off the street.

Of course they would, but try telling that to the so-called Road Safety Authority.

We can't go upsetting drivers, so better create a smokescreen instead.
Did just that a few years ago, when they had a go at me for having neither helmet, Hi-Vis or daylight running lights in Nenagh. This in the middle of the afternoon on a dry summers day*

*They do happen.
