just watched this animation of the Artemis II mission. wow, there are a lot of things that need to go right. lots of "separations", maneuvers & machine actions that must all execute perfectly & on time. unexpected reminder how truly alone & on their own, they will be

At least they have company , Michael Collins was truly alone for 30 orbits of the moon or around 76 hours. Every time he past round to the dark side of the moon he was totally cut off from everyone for 48 mins.

are clothes dryers frowned upon over there? personal choice? please excuse my ignorance

Drying outside is my preferred (and cheapest) option, but often the weather is too wet so I have to use a dryer.

Hanging damp stuff on a clothes horse in front of the fire, as my mother used to do, is not acceptable. I find the smell and inconvenience extremely annoying.

Day started with a BT at the hospital for an appointment on Tuesday only to get a message this afternoon that it was now the 23rd.
Work visits this afternoon and rare out and back along the same route.
Post work lawns cut. The strimmer was missing its plastic cutter, new one fitted only lasted two sides of the rear lawn before it split on one of its fixing holes. Hopefully the new new one lasts longer.

Got my Sekonda not from Argos as planned, but a smashing bloke in a kiosk in the Merrion Centre. He has been putting batteries in my other watches for years.Anyway seeing how i had to pass going to Argos i looked in his window.Saw two Sekonda straight away, blue dial and a slight smokey /green grey.Looked at both the green/grey got the vote, and it had a better bracelet, links are matt and brushed steel much better than the gold thread running through those i saw on the Argos page,so £49-99 reduced down to £24-99 had to have it.Now the phone galaxy A56 5g nice phone but i could not decide which plan,so i went for a pint and lunch at 'Spoons, then on to Jack's,so when i gets home the Carphone web page is showing out of stock.I have spent a look at the A57 5g,which was not shown on the page unless you did a search, now i have sent an email to danalogic GN to see if the phone is on their approved list, because it looks to be a new model for Samsung. All in all a good day.

Topically, a tiny bit about the approaching fertilizer shortage.

"Green Signals Quiz"

Last week's question was "which station has three different names?" The answer was Goathland, which I think someone on here got right. It was called "Aidensfield" in "Heartbeat" and something else in those films with platform six and a quarter (?)
Harry Potts?

This weeks question is about stations that are spelled completely different to how it sounds. There must be lots of those in Scotland and Wales. Not forgetting in Switzerland where Brig is pronounced Breeeeeeg. ^_^

The 'putting my feet up with reading material' didn't quite go as planned as I kept dropping the magazine as I started to nod off, so I gave in to the inevitable and had a proper snooze for 40 minutes or so. Both loads of washing have been whirlygig dried, brought in folded and put away leaving only a couple of pairs of trousers to be ironed along with a other couple of pairs from a previous wash.

There's a couple of race meetings this weekend that I wouldn't mind attending (Brands Hatch Saturday or Silverstone on Sunday) but that will depend on a mixture of the weather and fuel availability. The former is looking pretty poor, while I'll have a look at the latter on Friday if I go out for a ride. I've got enough in the tank for either trip, but will need to top up if I do go as I will most likely be needed for patient transport to bring my stepfather home after his hip replacement next week.

A bright and sunny day here chez Casa Reynard, but a tad on the chilly side.

Slept a total of seven hours in two shifts, but I'd nodded off while watching the Artemis post-launch press conference. Took my now usual :cuppa: back to bed and did some writing. Chapter 30 is now complete, and I've been making adjustments to the roadmap for the next segment of the story. You can lay out your plot and know where it's going, but there has to be wiggle room to take character development and additional detail into account.

At a better hour, swapped jim jams for clothes and cleared the chores. Then I went into the garden to cut firewood. Stupid me felled a dead tree previous week that I was going to come back and finish cutting up, but can I now find it? Not bloody likely! Hey ho. No matter, there's always enough stuff lying around, so cut up a load of dead ash and oak that was already on the ground - some into logs and some in to lengths. The wood's not the best quality - still decent enough, but by the autumn, it will have deteriorated too much.

Had a lovely luncheon of a ham & mustard sandwich, a banana, a packet of crisps and a two mug pot of tea.

Then it was back out to haul in the logs that I cut - had two heaped wheelbarrows. I also moved the cut lengths closer to the house and stacked them where I've more space to work, and where they're sheltered from any incoming wet stuff.

I've largely had a quiet evening. Printed out the competed chapter so I can add it to my hardcopy manuscript, fed the cat, watched the evening news etc.

Supper was a jacket potato with the last of the sausage casserole and some cheese. I may well have something dessert-y later, but right now I'm more thirsty than hungry.

Looks like Artemis II is go for TLI.
