Good morning from a fairly sunny and less windy than expected Suffolk. I'm slowly easing myself into the day with a large mug of coffee and the radio after a decent night's sleep and a lie in.

No Easter eggs here, but I may have a chocolate Santa later on instead.

I was just thinking about what DC Lane said about one of my comments. It is about how modern bikes have become bland looking and are trying to hide who they are. I can still remember the sight of a bike which captured my imagination and has stayed with me now for 60 years! It was a Falcon Black Diamond in purple, black and chrome. The bike was in a bike rack at school. It just looked stunning, it looked brand new.
It brings to mind my first bike which I bought. I was an apprentice in a garage and had saved up several weeks wages and was determined to get a bike. I had set my eyes on a Carlton Kermesse. I thought that the colours looked great. I didn't know that I was looking at the wrong model in the brochure. It didn't matter anyway as luck would have it. None of the cycle shops had one. It was the last cycle shop in Bristol which had the one which blew all thoughts of the Carlton right out of my mind. It was sold as soon as the chap wheeled it out. No mistaking the make as it had Holdsworth in block capitals in white set against a flamboyant background on a silver frame. So I'm a Magpie which likes bright shiny things. I still have it and it still makes me smile when I see it.

I actually prefer minimal branding on my bikes - I've got a Van Nicholas with all the decals removed, both of the Spa Elans (one Ti one 725 steel) only have minimal name branding on the down tube and the Pickenflick has only slightly darker silver branding than the TI frame colour.
The big 'Look at me' brand stickers on some bikes really puts me off.

My Brother has just called. Due to set off for Cornwall and he's noticed one tyre isn't holding pressure. Advised to try a particular tyre garage nearby as it's possibly likely to be open on Easter Sunday as it seems to be always open when I pass it. Worse case he takes their other car and has to pack a bit more sparingly. It's a Focus and their main car is a Kuga so not much less space.

When you live in England the sheer scale of other countries is hard to grasp.
But I will remember the relative flatness of the two states in case I'm ever planning a cycling trip.
Suspect the prevailing wind direction might impact the choice of route.

Absolutely. Prevailing winds are west to east, and a 40 mile per hour wind is considered pretty regular, with 15-20 mph winds almost a default setting. Bring a weather radio or get a FEMA app on your portable phone, as well as National Weather Service for the office in your area. Kansas, Nebraska, parts of Missouri, parts of Iowa, and Illinois are quite flat. Southern Illinois is quite hilly, Shawnee National Forest covers much of it, with many attractions.but also beautiful, and north-west Illinois is also very hilly, but Galena is charming.

Storm gone but some trees still falling over. One has now closed the railway twix York and Malton. Only immediate effect to me weirdly was a, scared stiff by the storm, dead smart meter with a blank white screen. Switched off and back on and it recovered

Using a hack we’ve got 2 for 1 on hop and off boat trips on the Thames. Had a very informative tour by a local. on the history and sights on the river. On way down to Greenwich inc passsing Ian McKelle’s house.

A chocochino has been had just feel like a bit of fresh air and some exercise to try and start shifting last night's Chinese

I am feeling not well. Hopsital appointment beckons, challenges include but are not limited to: finding a parking space, finding the right department, waiting, more waiting, scan, more waiting in case of a reaction to contrast agent, and getting out of the car park.

Afternoon cuppa brewing after a good session in the garden.

Changed, washed and put the bedding on the clothes horse to dry followed by a little bit of ironing while the weather tried to make up its mind. One short and very sharp shower rattled through so made an instant hot chocolate and sat for a while streaming the commentary from Silverstone - sounded like I missed some good racing, but not the windy & cold conditions.

I've had an hour out in the very fresh air battling the gusty breeze and am now sat down again watching some of yesterday's racing from Brands Hatch on YouTube and will watch today's racing this evening.

There was very little traffic on the way to this different hopsital.

I got confused at one point seeing a sign pointing to Northampton (Numpton?).

Plenty of empty parking spaces without a long walk to the main entrance. Good sign-posting for the various departments. No waiting to be called in for the fitting of a canula. An experienced canula person, who managed it first time, and no waiting to be called into the Scanning room.

I was out of the clinic before my appointment time. The results take two weeks.

Now relaxing and will watch "Secret Garden" later, and "The Other Bennett Sister".
