No meatings b4 dinner!
Yesterday on my way to work as, I was diverting off the Waterlink Way, I came across a Conway's saloon car with a superior looking chap in it, parked in the vicinity of the temporary bridge.

Accordingly I hailed this gentleman and enquired if he had any knowledge of the works and when they might be concluded.

He did indeed have some information and was able to inform me that they had encountered numerous problems including something to do with the foundations of the bridge which had caused the delay.

Work now not expected to complete until end of JULY.

Oh misere mei.

Ebike had a visit to the work bike shed once its rider had managed to get on it this morning. Five attempts, partly own fault for putting everything in one pannier; the added bulk and width being the issue and the only vertical structure to usefully push against being on the wrong side.
Then en route a bird dropped a deposit my left sleeve. Not thinking I flicked it away leaving one figure needing washing and the shirt sleeve being soaked tissue cleaned.
Forgot an apple for lunchtime so just scoffed one.
A downpipe on the useful side meant getting back on the ebike to head home was a doddle despite the pannier.

First working week completed, and it is really difficult to settle back into it. Especially as I'm hoping to be told I'm being made redundant anyway!

Another nice day after a damp start. I probably should have gone for a ride but I had a few errands to run in town. My shoes are now repaired. I've changed to a different mobile plan that should be better for me as it allows a lot more data, whereas I basically never make phone calls anyway! Heaven forbid you actually use your phone to speak to people!

I've also paid my car insurance, which actually came in a lot cheaper than last year. That doesn't happen very often.

In other news, I put up a new washing line as I had to take down the one I had to allow my shed to be built.

I see a really nice original Raleigh Twenty on FB messenger at a sensible price that I'm trying to tell myself I don't need...

2.5 mile evening Tesco and Co-op trek in pleasant temperatures. The former for apples and bananas plus a couple of T-shirts at 25% off. The latter not as planned as all the fridges and freezers were empty awaiting repair. 2 x 4 packs of Nakd bars @£2 each were the sole purchases.

It's been a pleasant, mostly sunny though blustery day here chez Casa Reynard, with occasional cloud and spit of rain.

Sleep was OK, no more than that. Downstairs, feed the cat - gave her a bit less today as she didn't finish yesterday's ration. Made a :cuppa: and took it upstairs to do some writing.

After, cleared the chores. Then the morning's main task was potting on all my tomatoes and the lettuces that I bought last week. Everything is doing really well, so happy with that.

A lovely luncheon of a cheese salad sandwich, the last of those lovely jaffa oranges, and a pot of tea.

Spent the afternoon clearing up in the utility room. Things are starting to look up in there, though it will still be a looooooong process. I have put together enough to do a tip run tomorrow. Today's fun discovery was a ladies' leather trench coat. It needs a bit of TLC, but I think I'll be keeping that!

Took a break for a drink and snack, and then went outside to do some strimming and tame part of the garden. I can be a bit more ruthless now that the forget-me-nots have just about done flowering. The hot weather of the last week has done for them. I won't raze them completely, as I need them to set seed for next year.

Supper was coronation turkey pasta and a side salad of lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes and some cornichons.

Now having a quiet evening in front of the telly.

A fairly productive day - two loads of washing done, dried and put away, plus a 4 pinter of milk & a loaf of bread shopped courtesy of a very enjoyable mixed surface 35 mile ride. Plenty of rain around - you could see the shower clouds while out - but it all seemed to evaporate and nothing made it to ground level

Despite being signed up for one click delay repay with LNER, I'd still not received the auto email from them by late afternoon, so manual claims for Wednesday & Thursday's late trains have been lodged with around £23 to be refunded. Which has already been spent on music downloads.

This evening has been spent catching up with some of the motorsport recorded over the weekend and the IMSA qualifying from Detroit which has just finished.

Talking of things I don't need - have you had the Pashley Speed 5 out recently and what's it like to ride?
There's one that keeps cropping up on Ebay at a reasonable price, just needs the gears setting up and I'm very tempted with a savings pot maturing at the end of June...
