Actually having something with "Northumbria Police" written on it isnt the impersonating part, because he could have just had a letter from the police before and just cropped out the rest of the letter, but kept the part he wanted, and stuck it in his wallet. He shows it very quickly to the cyclist and unfortunately the image (even the raw file the cyclist will have) will probably be out of focus in some way. But showing this to the cyclist isnt an offence, calling yourself a "serving police officer" is the offence.
But I too am very surprised the police didnt take this any further. Oh wait, no I am not because they dont bother to take anything further nowadays because it is too much hassle for them.

Welcome back. Have you wrecked your car again?

I suspect Matthew that Police Scotland didn't taken it further as he likely hasn't committed a crime (see my previous post).

So saying I am a serving police officer when you are not and showing a fake ID to backup that claim is not an offense?

I know you are an officer and know this, I am just clarifying it for myself.

For some one who posts righteous videos showing themselves confronting bus drivers who they feel have driven dangerously around them as they cycle, presenting them with the High Way Code and then in other videos showing themselves driving in a highly irresponsible and dangerous manner, pulling hand brake turns, is a bit rich don't you think?

Dislike.
Completely unnecessary.

The film appears the be made in Scotland.

The chap is claiming to be an English Bobby.

English Dibble have no powers in Scotland, except with respect to offences commited in England and Wales.

In England it is not an offence to impersonate a foreign police officer with no powers. While I am Scottish, I'm not a Scottish officer, but I presume the same holds true North of the border, ie, it would be an offence to impersonate a Scottish constable, but not a foreign one with no powers.

But there are occasions when cross-border assistance is provided. Joe Public won't always know, e.g. as with this tit, when that's applicable.

But if an individual strayed into a jurisdiction where the officer he was trying to impersonate had powers, then ………. you're nicked?

Indeed, but I think we can be fairly sure an English copper in Aberdeen has no powers, except the power to be ignored. As aforementioned, this is lesson 1, day 1 stuff at old Bill training school, and is going to be especially pertinent to border forces, hence me believing he's not a Fed. But i suspect in Aberdeen it's no more of an offence to pretend to be a Northumbria Bobby as it is to pretend to be in the Moscow Civil Militia, or the RCMP.

Your post was unpleasant and uncalled for.
It makes no sense anyway, that your disagreement with some of the things Mathew has done somehow prohibits him from commenting on a case of someone impersonating a police officer.

Unpleasant? Why unpleasant. It is what he has done is it not, fact? But it is s bit rich of him posting videos of himself doing naughty things in a car then disapproving of some else appearing to do the same and commenting on the police doing nothing ………. I think he may be pretty relieved they tend to do nothing especially in his case. I am not prohibiting him from commenting, just pointing out his comments are a bit rich considering his past.

I think the worrying thing is how quickly he brought out the spiel - makes you think he had done this before?

I had a similar altercation with a pillock who cut me up then tried to force me out of my lane and proceded to inform me that "Lord Denning, Master of the Rolls, once held that a bicycle is entitled only to wobble room, and you were in the middle of the lane!" That was true as it was a road narrowing for about 100 feet and I'd moved out in plenty of time, but held him up on his way to the red light at the end of it- he obviously valued his ball scratching time

He didn't understand me when I suggested that was probably "obiter dicta" but he did understand the later visit from plod, who agreed with me that the fact he came out with that so quickly suggested he was a serial peanut! (Nice meeting a copper who was also a keen roadie)
