Whenever I hear Pink Floyd I think back to one day in primary school. The teacher came in and put a Pink Floyd album on and sat back in her chair with her feet up. We listened to the full album. After it finished she asked us what the music meant to us and what we thought it was saying....

I think it was saying she had been out for a 'smoke' before class.

This always takes me back to the Magazine Hotel in Leicester in the mid 80s, the landlord (Mark Kershaw) used to put this on the pub HiFi (a pair of Bose 301 studio moniters and big Kef speakers with a 60w into 4 channel Rotel amp) and crank it up at about 10:15 on a Friday/Saturday night, place used to erupt.

It was only a smallish bar and the amp would be almost on the point of 'clipping', glorious.

Thursday night I was round at a mate's, getting to grips with the Sonos app he'd persuaded me to put on my phone, and I managed to find & play a track from a compilation tape a schoolfriend made for me about forty years back. Still sounded good...

When I was enjoying my 9th birthday, our house went up in flames It was a dark, rainy, December night, and the only place I could feel safe was sat in the car, I put the stereo on for a bit of comfort, and this was playing, fits quite well................

I can see my grandad now, in his scruffy old gardening clothes, his hair blown all over the place, teasing a bonfire with his fork. He`s been gone 15 years but I still miss him terribly, this used to make him (us!!) laugh!!
