According to the Mayo Clinic you can loose your sense of smell as you age, which, if you intend to keep this coat, means that this situation will gradually improve over time.
I had a coat like that, handed in to my local charity shop, end of problem.
I think that was a joke!Maybe the OP bought your coat?
Have you been reading Leviticus again?
I think that was a joke!

I meant that snorri's post was supposed to be a joke, so are you saying that you were joking in making out that you did not recognise that post as a joke? Or something like that ...Er i meant it to be a joke! Maybe i'm going to have to start putting brackets around my exclamation marks and question marks.

Ah, I get it it - you made a joke of not getting the joke and I joked about you not getting the joke, but you didn't realise that I was joking ...I meant that i knew he was joking so i asked the question not really meaning it to be serious. Or summat like that!

Shall we stop this now, I have to catch up on today's road and track cycling!
Yep, white vinegar soak also works for musty cycling clothes.OK, I admit to being an expert on this. Even a 100C wash does not work !
But all you need is a light vinegar solution. Malt vinegar though if it is white I would play safe and go use clear vinegar.
The weaker the solution, the longer the soak. A couple of days maximum does it.
Google "mildew smells" and there's a whole world of OCD cleaning sites to choose from for advice. White vinegar crops up surprisingly frequently for all sorts of stains and nasty niffs.
