So, I’ve been busy buying some parts to upgrade my Addict, and have now nearly finished my Di2 installation…

· Shimano SM-EW90-A Di2 Junction A Box - E-Tube, 3 Port

Had to drill the frame and enlarge the existing 3.5mm cable entry point to fit the 5.5mm SD50 e-tube through for the front mech:

As she stands now, just waiting for my new chain and 950mm SD50 e-tube wire to arrive before refitting the last bits and filling the existing cable holes in the frame (using black Sugru for this):

So, I returned home last night to a plethora of packages, but none containing the one bloody wire I need to link up all my newly installed Di2 goodies…..

This aside, I put the chainset back on and sorted the brakes out.

Old Dura Ace chain:

New KMC X11-SL chain coming in 11g lighter:

Never weighed my bottle cages, quite hefty but hold my bottles well:

New Tune DC14 skewers, proper bike porn:

And the bike ready to roll once downtube wire is installed and everything poked into the BB (bar tape will be done once 100% happy with bars/shifter position):

So, after snapping two chain tools, I've finally got the bike fully built and running perfect.

I really am loving Di2, so much better in terms of responsiveness and ease of use.

There is zero rubbing when cross-chaining (53-28) and it’s absolutely silent. The only thing I can here are the jockey wheels whirring in the rear derailleur.

I also installed and linked up my Shimano D-Fly unit so I get the read-outs on my Garmin 1000, great bit of kit! I mounted in it my seat tube since I didn't want it visible. Shimano say it has to be on the rear chainstay, but that’s presumably on aluminium bikes. On carbon, it’s fine in the frame. I have it running between the battery and junction box B.

Also downloaded E-Tube Project and set my groupset up to ‘Very Fast’. Drops from 28-11 so much quicker now.

Had my first attempt at wrapping bars with Deda Traforato tape. Was pretty easy and I did a pretty good job I think. Very comfy and super light (32g with bar plugs).

This was also my first proper run on my new Tune DC14 skewers, they were faultless and very happy with 104kg rider going downhill at 60kph.

So the bike now comes in at 6850g on the nose, this is with pedals, cages and Garmin mount & sensor.

Fully built:
