My first bike!!!

My parents have finally entered the age of computer technology, so my mum scanned and sent me some of my kiddie pictures - including one of me on my first bike! Don't know what's happened to the colour, it's all gone a bit orange - the bike was actually a deep red. A Wittekind with 20 inch wheels - it looks massive in the picture! Must have been 6 or 7 at the time....in a strange rainbow jumper handknitted by my auntie

Was your main hairdresser called "Mum's" as well?

I think I had a similar haircut too, not quite as long. My first bike was red, had small wheels and no gears.

Your first bike had cable brakes (jealous) mine only had a rod operated front brake.
It also had white solid rubber tyres.

Actually, the rear brake was a coaster brake...almost every bike had them at the time. The first time I rode a bike with a different brake I crashed straight into a fence...as it was a considerably too big frame with a horizontal top tube, it made for a rather painful experience!
