An au pair to keep the house clean, look after my teenage daughter and to keep the wife on her toes!

A large pond in the garden for the fishes

Large ponds are a nightmare. I spend all my time rescuing the thing from itself. Herons, duckweed, blanket weed, freezing over, silting up.......... And with a big pond you can't simply go down the pond shop and buy some chemicals to sort it because you would need an enormous quantity for a big pond. BTDTGTTS.

A couple of years ago I was considering a move out of town and asked an architect to suggest any changes to the house which might maximise the sales value. He suggested knocking it down and selling the land as a building plot.

My ideal house is probably a one bedroom shed. (one about the size of B&Q would do nicely)

I have unlimited supply to wood for a fire, but unlike our last flat, we don't have a wood burner in our new flat.
.

I'd put woodburner at the top of my list, pref. one to heat the water too. We don't even have a chimney and I really miss a decent fire.
Second would be a slightly bigger garden although with the fields behind, it can seem big enough, but there's no room for a pond which I would love.
Third, I'd swap our roof tiles for pantiles with some good gaps to give swifts a home in the summer.

That would be immeasurable.

However, your presence, or not, does not materially affect the quality of the house, just the pleasure and happiness that is within it.

Actually, I suppose a Brewery next door would be nice......or at least my own home brewing kit.

If I could persuade the family to chuck some stuff out and declutter the place. And if the lad and his mrs moved out and left the place to just me and the MRS that would be nice to.
