ok have finally finished bolting together my latest single speeder .

based around an alloy (yes i know alloy) Ribble frame and other items from the garage ie
a pr of mixed parentage 700 wheels with the rear dished and spaced to suit 17 tooth single speed freewheel , 52 tooth miche crankset ,unbranded seat post and slight rise bars with 3 finger levers , pr of wellago pedals , new brake calipers and cables etc and to top it off a pair of greensprint solid 700 tyres so no punctures for me , will post some pics soon as weather allows .

I was intrigued so I looked them up myself - presume these are the fellas:
http://www.greentyre.co.uk/28inch.html

I'd normally expect a solid tyre to be much heavier than a pneumatic, but they claim the 23C Sprint weigh 365g, which actually isn't that much more than the 340g Schwalbe quote for the 23C Durano Plus.

How they ride is another matter...

I had a pair of those years ago, and kept them until recently as a backup pair, but they're like riding on really poorly inflated tyres, and make any progress hard work!
