A bit lengthy this but (I think) worth reading.
As per my previous threads.........I have been suffering from VERY tender sit bones after any decent ride, say 35/45 miles-to the point where it took 5 days before I could ride again.
I tried.........
new saddles x 2
New/better shorts (Endura).....which made an improvement***
A bike fit by someone recommended by a CC member.
Some comments re' the bike fit.
In short the only improvement I felt was extra power on the down stroke but I paid for that with a painful groin from stretching.
THEN THE MAGIC MOMENT !!!...........and it didn't cost me anything
***In a LBS to get a the new shorts and during our chat re' my problem he confidently told me to bring the bike in and he would sort the problem.
So I did.
As soon as he saw me on the bike (on a trainer) he told me the set-up was sooo wrong
He used a giant protractor type gismo to measure my leg extension/angle an declared it was set to about 10 degrees greater that Wiggins has his.........and promptly changed everything including my cleat positions, seat height/angle/position.
He told me the saddle was not right for me and loaned me a one that he felt would suit me. He then told me "THIS SET UP WILL CURE YOUR PROBLEM..........IT WILL RELIEVE YOUR PAIN.
2 days later (yesterday) I did my 68 mile ride............ABSOLUTELY NO PAIN.......NO SORENESS!! Today.......apart from some tiredness I could ride again.

BTW..........this is not a thread for people to tell me that bike fits are not necessary..........believe me-if you sufered what I have you would try anything.

- He spent over 3 hours using a bike jig then transfering his "findings" to my bike
- He raised my seat to the point I found it a real stretch.
- he put my cleats forward
- etc. etc.
