My tongue

I've been meaning to find out what this is for years, but always forget, but, my tongue is always dirty (steady on there folks!), in the sense that, no matter what I do, it's always grey as if covered in a scum, even if I only drink water for prolonged periods.

I must admit that I had trouble with my teeth when I was younger, they are not exactly film star pearly whites, but, still, no matter what I do, it never changes.

I don't smoke (never have) and even when I have been off the booze, I still have the same issue. It's the same with tea (which makes it go brown).

Every day I use my tongue scraper and every day, the same stuff just appears again, sometimes within minutes!

Does anyone know what is causing this?

I forgot to add, it very often feels dry and rough, as if I have not drank in a while, even when I have.

I have digestive problems and had Leukaemia as a teen incidentally.

Sounds like it could be a bacterial or yeast thing (thrush for example). This might fit with the digestive issues if there's a general problem with bacterial imbalance / overgrowth..

I've had it for years to be fair and sometimes my tongue is white as well (also sometimes beige or brown).

I have a Stoma bag, but I had it long before my operation.

It's easy for me to forget about as I cannot see it and nobody ever mentions it either, but... I notice nobody else with it, so...

I know I have not been looking after myself very well of late and I have noticed people giving me veiled comments about my appearance.
I also had to take a picture of myself for something recently and I was shocked at how crap I look!
No wonder I'm single. 🙄🤦‍♂️🙄

I thought the tongue scrapper used too much got rid of the good bacteria as well as the bad.

You could also ask a pharmacist, things like oral thrush treatment may be available
