Name and shame bad roads to cycle on

A day off work today, so thought I would have a ride around the outskirts of manchester, everything was going fine until I got to stockport road.(from manchester going to stockport)

Word can't describe how bad this road was, full of potholes, and big mounds of tarmac pushed up towards the kerb due to the weight of buses and hgv's.
It was almost impossible to ride in a straight line. I have highlighted it in red on this map, this is a road to avoid (unless you can ride in the middle of the road)

Turret Grove in Clapham and Coldharbour Lane in Camberwell are both on my commute and there's more holes than there is road (and it means I can't nose through the windows of the posh houses).

Worked for me too, it took six months but worked nonetheless!

And not too far from those is Evandale Rd where the potholes have potholes that have potholes. For me it falls into the category of 'so bad it's good'. On a mountain bike it must be a buzz. At one end there's a sink hole that opens every two or three months around a grid and if you listen carefully... three seconds after you drop a penny... you hear it... plink into subterranean Effra.

I know this thread is a bottomless pit of surface scratching but not if you're into potholes. Check out more stories about potholes at pothole.co.uk

Its not just the un repaired roads, in some cases, its the repairs themselves that make the roads dangerous. A couple of years ago, when the local council decided to contract out the minor repair work, we ended up with a flat back transit driving around, literally throwing some tarmac in a pot hole and stamping it down with a Doc Martin boot. It caused more work and expense to re-do these dodgy repairs in the long run and caused a period of very unsafe surfaces to ride on. There were a couple of routes that I stopped using for this very reason.
