I play £1 on each Wed & Sat. I have had 4 numbers 3 times and a tenner probably a couple of dozen times. It's a harmless flutter which allows me to daydream about a different life for very little cost. No matter what the odds are, vast sums of cash are paid to a great many people each year and if you are in you can win. Provided you can afford, and don't mind, the loss of your flutter I don't see any problem. I think the "stupidity tax" comments are insults cast by self righteous prigs.

It is simply a government tax, mostly paid by those who do not understand the statistical odds. I therefore regard it as a cynical tax on the stupid. The 'good causes' it supports are largely government core funding requirements.

No, absolutely not. I have a strong personal, moral objection to gambling. 'nuff said. But I have no wish to stop others doing it if they really want to!

It's a useful financial resource for 'good causes', though alas! the allocation of funds seems to be a bit arbitrary. I know of at least one organization I belong to, that seems to qualify but were refused on some technicality...

Someone got to be in a plain crash too but that dosen't stop you getting on a plain does it?

if i was going to crash, i'd prefer it to be a big colourful and fiery spectacle, nothing plain about it at all.

that should be achieved quite easily in a plane crash!

No, I don't do the lottery.
Mr Plax is in a thing at work where they all have their own number, and put a pound towards the kitty. Then if their number comes up as the bonus ball in the lottery they win the lot. He has won it quite a few times. Much better odds than the lottery!

Yes Euro Millions most Fridays.

I got abused by my nephew for not knowing how to fill in the card. It reminded me of an old computer punchcard from the 17th century.

We do 2 lines on a Wednesday and 2 on a Saturday.

About two months ago we got 5 balls and won just over £1250!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My share is in the bank waiting for the Spring to arrive. Think it's going to be a new 11 speed Campag Chorus groupset for me .

The win was very nice, but have to admit that the odds are rubbish compared to the value of the prizes.

I used to play the same numbers every Saturday but decided to stop wasting the money. I stuck £100 in Premium Bonds instead though just to have that little bit of hope. At least I can get the premium bond stake back at any point.
